Silicon & Software Systems (S3) Demonstrate Interoperability with Live Modeo DVB-H Broadcast at CTIA Wireless

Today at CTIA Wireless, Silicon & Software Systems (S3) demonstrated interoperability between its Mobile DTV software stack, onHandTV(TM) and the live Modeo DVB-H broadcast.

onHandTV delivers handset manufacturers key protocol stacks, middleware and applications required to rapidly deploy Interactive Digital TV products compliant with emerging Mobile Broadcast standards. It combines core Mobile DTV features including a Personalized TV Guide, File download, Podcasting, and local and broadcast media management with proven Operator Adaptation Packages (OAPs) tuned to meet the specific requirements of leading commercial launches and trials.

“We are delighted to see S3’s fully interoperable onHandTV stack demonstrating live reception of Modeo’s broadcast on several leading mobile platforms,” said Michael Schueppert, President of Modeo LLC. “We believe that S3 is a key part of our ecosystem and helps to demonstrate our commitment to an open-standards based broadcast network. This approach is expected to enable rapid deployment of our TV, Radio and Podcasting services later this year.”

Speaking at CTIA Wireless, John Maguire, General Manager, Mobile DTV Products Group, S3 said, “We believe that Modeo is one of the key operators in the emerging mobile broadcast market. Their current strategy to target handheld devices and mobile phones is well positioned to capitalize on increasing consumer interest in TV and IP datacasting services in both the mobile and automotive consumer space.

“We are excited to support their Air Interface Profile Specification with a Modeo-specific Operator Adaptation Package (OAP). This compliments our existing onHandTV core features and gives us further opportunity to explore interesting interactive use-cases in a commercial network.”

S3 will be demonstrating onHandTV in several locations at its customer and partner booths this week at CTIA Wireless. If you wish to have a private demonstration at the show, or would like more information about onHandTV, please contact S3.
