rPath Receives “Start-up of the Year” Award
Software Appliance Company Honored with CED Entrepreneurial Excellence Award
RALEIGH, N.C. (June 22, 2006) – rPath, provider of the first platform for creating and maintaining Linux software appliances, has been named The Start-up of the Year by The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED). The CED presented rPath with the honor during its 20th annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards dinner on June 21 at the American Tobacco Historic District in Durham, NC. More than 400 people attended the celebration, which honored area entrepreneurs and high-growth companies.
“This year’s award winners highlight the important role that entrepreneurs play in our economy,” said CED President Monica Doss. “From 3D imaging to drug development, healthcare technology to open source software – North Carolina’s innovation-based community boasts a rich pipeline of entrepreneurial success stories.”
The Start-up of the Year award is given to the company that began operations during the previous year and shows the most potential for impact in its market and success in the future.
