BCCI appoints GoAir as official carrier for India – England ODI Series
First of its kind deal signed by GoAir: To operate special flights on ODI venue sectors
Mumbai, March 20, 2006:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced that the Jeh Wadia promoted GoAir will be the official carrier for the upcoming India – England one-day international cricket (ODI) series. The airline will carry both teams to the matches to be played in Delhi, Goa, Cochin, Guwahati, Ranchi, Indore, and Mumbai from April 1-16, 2006 and will operate special flights on these sectors. GoAir will also offer special rates to journalists traveling with the teams.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Jeh Wadia, Managing Director, GoAir said, “GoAir is one of the leading low cost carriers operating in India since last year and its selection as the official carrier to the Indian & English teams for the ODI Series is testimony to the fact that we have remained committed to delivering high quality service to our passengers across the sectors we operate in. This deal also underlines the fact that the BCCI has complete faith and trust in our ability to meet the needs of the two teams in so much as ensuring that they have the most comfortable flights to the various venues.”

GoAir operates a fleet of Airbus A320’s that are single class configured to accommodate 180 passengers. GoAir has recently inked a deal with Airbus Industries for a further 10 aircraft and options on another 10. Targeting the A/c 1st class and 2nd class passengers of the railways, GoAir provides direct point-to-point connectivity to towns and cities that these passengers travel.
Starting April, GoAir will operate 28 daily flights covering 14 cities.
