Need Help in choosing a router and connection

Hello,

I apologize to one and all if there is another thread around this. I have gone through most of them and even tried a few, I couldn't resolve my issue.

I am helping a old couple in my society who has Reliance WIMAX, which has an antenna hoisted above my house and it reaches to a white rectangular modem/router, which in turn goes into the LAN port of the Laptop. I found their Netgear WiFi router and tried all sorts of permutations and combinations to make it work, its not working! I now need your help please:

1. I want to know which modem/Router do I need to purchase
2. I would also need help with the connections to set up a WiFi zone in their house.

I have attached the pic of the modem/Router for a quick peek. Pardon the spots on it pls :) Let me know if you need additional information.

Again, I do understand that there may be help in other threads, but none of them (which I tried) worked for me. I am sieving this forum for the past 4 months to see if there is something available. Need you help please.

have you called Reliance? there may be a solution directly from them.

Reliance is the best place to ask, I think they may even have routers which they provide for their connections as well.

I would think that Netgear or a TP Link WiFi router would work fine with the wimax connection, but double check with Reliance.

I did call the CC near about 3-5 times. All have more or less a same tailor made reply - "We do not provide router with our connections. So we won't be able to help you. You can either ask someone who has converted this into wifi or contact any independent technician and get this done. We cannot help you. Have a nice day" :)

Not very helpful then? What I normally do is either ask on the forum like you have or go into a computer shop and ask the shop keeper thats if I know that he has knowledge about these things, and a suitable router can be suggested.

Thanks Sal. Will definitely do that. Will help I guess, if the vendor is nearby :)
