Smile Indian Wine

What do you think is the best Brand of Indian Wine ? ....
By wine i mean white wine and red wine and not strong beverages like beer .........

Well i ll vote for Grover and sula

Especially Grover which has got many awards and also exports its wine to countries like france,U.K and U.s .... I think currently grover has a tie up with a French Wine company now .... But its reputation is growing by the day ....

Sula which is not far behind and is one of india's largest producer .....These too get exported to U.S and Europe markets...

IMO Grover and Sula are the only ones which comes close to imported stuff

Other brands worth mentioning are

Vinsura
Blue Folds
Indage
VinBros

Sula... all variants.
Indage is also good.

I prefer Home made wines (get a lot in Goa/Konkan) to any Indian brand though....

Sula and Chateau Indage are good Indian wines. But Indian wines have to go beyond Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.

I wish that there are good rose wines too. Also the black currants are missing from most reds except the expensive ones.

I did some small research .... the reason[i am guessing ] Indian wines are mainly of Cabernet and Sauvignon variety is that these are easiest to grow in Indian climate ....
While Cabernet Sauvignon are very hardy [disease resistant] unlike Merlot which is easily effected by climate and disease so more difficult to grow Blanc grows well in warm climes hence i guess these r preferred in India...

Ofcourse we cant expect over Vineyards to be as sophisticated as the European's ..... But it is growing by the day .....
Try Grover's Rose Chiraz if u can .....IMO its the best Indian Rose wine
@jay
You seem to know so much about wines ,have u ever visited Napa Valley ???

Blanc's are prefered to be consumed anytime in our kind of climate...
Shiraz Rose is good but some how misses the Wine taste genre....

Smile

Its more of a red than white wine ...... Yes rose wine ferments the least with the skin so its not as much of a wine as say red or white
In fact rose wine is made as a 'by product' of red wine rather than by itself .....
