What is it about the ISP this service offers that makes it unique? Is it a variant on dynamic IPs?

Before you go all out filing an application for RTI on why this service is not
available in other places in India be advised that the said ISP is still in BETA
version. All you would get as an answer to your application (if at all you file one)
is that they are still conducting various test in handful locations before they start to expand.

Default sorry to spoil the party folks

All u guys have been misinformed .Go to their website (railwire.in ) and see for urselves what i am talking about . Go to the webpage under traiffs and plans just below the tariffs they have mentioned about the ports being in the ratio of 1: 4 contention ratio which literally means the plan IRW010 WITH DOWNLOAD SPEED OF 4 MBPS and costing Rs 2120 will be shared by 4 people and ur actual speed would be 4 Mbps/ 4 PEOPLE so the effective speed works out to 1 Mbps per connection. So for u to enjoy 4 Mbps in actual terms out of the 4 shared connections the rest of the 3 connections will have to be idle which is highly improbable. I am enclosing a snap for all of u to see. Hope i was of help to u guys.

Default Dont be More exited. 5 truths of RailWire.

I am using RailWire in bangalore..

I wanted to tell u few things..

1. The connections are through cable.. ur local cable operator will handle. Which we know its the worst.. if rain comes. there are packet drops.
2. The connection is 1:4 . For Eaxmple: 4Mbps /4 = 1Mbps.
3. If we see the above equation, its the same i pay for 1 Mbps dedicated line from reliance WIMAX or Tata"s.
4. The worst thing of all is. There is some filtering going on in the network some where.. torrents will not work. Streaming sites will not work mostly. All are blocked.
5. The Second worst thing i faced is, They give you a NAT IP. you can not use rapidshare, meghavideo,.. any time and data limit sites. in reliance I get Public IP for the price of 2k /year.
6. Do u believe that till now i could not open thepiratebay.org and icicbank.com from RailWire network

I really dont know whether its a problem with RailWire or local cable operator.. but this is the fact..

Thank's

We are glad to receive your enquiry.

Calcutta will come under our pan-India rollout plans. From the customer support team we, at present don’t have good visibility into the exact dates/timelines. However, you could expect us to reach calcutta by end of this year or early next year.

With warm regards,
