I just checked the tariffs and its just too good to believe .... It would be great if they started their services here in Delhi aswell.

Do we have anyone using Railwire broadband service? Any reviews ?

I would love to get their 4mbps unlimited connection which is available at Rs2120

All other isp's would have to cut their prices if Railwire starts becoming available every where

Man, I'm so exicted you just made another sub-forum for it!!

Well, I have a guy in Bangalore, just met in him in the other forums. He said he got the 2 mbps connection installed around in June. Everything was done within 2 days as promised. The guys were nice and properly taught, knew every single detail anyone could ask!

The download speed is always above 1.9 mbps and the upload speed is always above 1.7 mbps. They said he can complain if the download speed goes down below 1.8 mbps and they'll get it right. And there are no disconnections on his connection.

It's controlled by the Indian Railways btw.

Well, the project was started back in 2001-2003. But discontinued in between.
Their network is fibre optics and as far as I know, they provide a direct wire which goes in the CPU. No Modem, nothing else.

By the way, no installation and activation charges too!!

I'm just posting it here and there and letting everyone know + asking them to sign the petition. Hope this petition helps.

And I heard they are targetting Tier-II and Tier-III cities. Do you know what it means ? I just can't figure it out.

    Default Finally sense prevailed...

Lalu Ji has recently started to do good work at national level... Hope he starts doing something for his home state too... And bring the Railwire here in Patna... Seems his IT professional son in-law has changed his mindset... Else when his party was in power in bihar... Lalu ji said "ye IT-YT kya hai? kya gareeb ka pate bharega?"...lol

    I've signed the petition...

    lol

But I don't think he should be partial about anything, and make this ISP the best of India with all the good things pushed in.

I want this ISP to earn name, fame, honour and respect.
Not to be known with - points such as bad CC or something. :P

Signing the petetion wont really make much difference in my opionion (I might be wrong) this is India.

The best thing to do would be file a RTI application and ask why has this not been launched across India and what are the hurdles... There might be dirty money changing hands behind the scenes.. May be private operators bribing some of the decision makers ... dont know really but this is a very big possibility.

What else has stalled this project? Th last time I read about them was 2 years ago and they still cover the same area and no additions.

I am not too sure about this one... will try and find out. They must have a RTI officer appointed as its a government owned thing isint it?

This really sucks. And THIS is the reality of broadband in India. I say - No Railwire for 5 more years. Thinking pratically, this just isn't possible. I really don't understand why everyone is exited about this Railwire stuff.

What is it about the ISP this service offers that makes it unique? Is it a variant on dynamic IPs?
