    Thumbs up Wifi Router for Railwire Broadband connection

    Hi RailWire/Members

    Can you confirm if this device works with your connection:- http://support.netgear.com/product/D1500. This is Netgear D1500 N300 modem-router that is compatible with both ADSL/Cable or Fiber connections. It have RJ45 as WAN port as well.
    My current location is Bangalore. Please note, as a source of internet I am only getting RJ45 cable from your vendor.

    @Logik

    D1500 is an adsl modem with a built in router. I dont think it would work with an RJ45 input that you have. All you need is a wifi router and it should not cost more then 1100-1200. This one selling for Rs1645 on Amazon and it is not even the product that we need. Please find a reliable source that says this product would work with a cable connection as I dont see any mention on their Amazon product page.

    Keeping things simple is the best way to do it. It is a cable connection and there is no need for an adsl modem. Why invest in one when you can use a stand alone wifi router which would also work out a lot cheaper. I would recomend buying a router that also has a repeater function if you believe you can use it at some point later on to extend your network.

    Thanks for reply admin.

    If you notice: the Modem have RJ45 WAN port (Its actually WAN/LAN combo and can be used as both). Look at this: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/fil...G_6Aug2014.pdf
    I think this should work.

    on amazon, look at reviews wrote by people. They confirmed it works with cable internet as well. And isn't Railwire is cable internet.

    Just paid a little attention and found out that you are spot on. It would work with your connection without a doubt. Just make sure that Amazon or where ever you are buying from is selling the same model. Some companies have variations in same model numbers launched in India aand abroad. If that is not the case then it looks like a good deal to me.

    I got it from flipkart. The product is original. No doubt. Y'day railwire vendor was at my place and he said it won't work & hence was bit confused. I think I need to mark that port as WAN before even testing.

    It should work. Just configure it using the manual and you would be good to go.
