Default Reliance 3G Internet Connection offering a dismal speed(Painfully Slow)

    Hello Friends,

I recently bought the Reliance 3G SIM Kit from the Reliance Webworld, here at Borivali West, Mumbai, India. Excited about it, I popped in the SIM Card into my Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The APN Settings were set correctly. The Signal Strength is excellent. And I get an 'H' Signal, which I believe stands for 3.5G(HSDPA). My Samsung Tablet is set to GSM/WCDMA Dual Mode, so it can pick up 2G/3G Signals.

Now, the dilemma is, that the Speeds that I get while surfing the Internet, or downloading Android Applications, is a mere 50-60 kbps. I managed to test the same on Speedtest.net.

I have raised a ticket with the Reliance Help-Desk almost for 4-5 times now, and it doesn't look like its gonna get resolved anytime soon. The Web-world staff is technically incompetent, their priority is to acquire new customers.

If this is the state of affairs, its going to be difficult for me to continue with Reliance as my 3G Services operator.

    Questions
    1. Is there anyone out there, who faces a similar issue?
    2. What best can I do to resolve it?
    3. What does the 'H' Signal Stand for? Has Reliance Communication throttled back its speeds?

    Thanks,

    Quasar

Reliance 3G actually gives a speed of 28 MBPS which is faster than any other operator in India. DOCOMO gives speeds of just 21 MBPS.
Besides Reliance has bagged the most circles in India at 19 and hence will give you the best coverage.

28 Mbps is not a matter of joke... Reliance have to do a lot of work to make it feasible and 3G network doesnot mean the speed you r talking about..!!

Reliance is currently Offering 7.2 Mbps connection only for 3G subscribers and quite expensive..!!
    with No unlimited Plan .!

A normal user will not pay for 20GB@ Rs.2000

It will be great if reliance launches a student plan say 5GB for Rs.350 on 3G

I know the chairman of reliance was a good student but everybody is not quite lucky and rich like him so he must help students of our poor nation INDIA

    Well,
I'm using Reliance 3G 21GB package in Delhi and the max. speed I got till today is 9.84 Mbps.
With IDM, it can reach upto a max of 1.7 MB/s = 13.6 Mbps but only for a couple of seconds.
They just advertise about 28 mbps speeds but the fact is speeds are around 10 mbps on a 28 mbps modem.
When I use my Samsung Galaxy S [HSDPA, max. upto 7.2 Mbps], it can reach speeds upto a max of 5-6 Mbps !
