Thread: When on 3G I can not send SMS or USSD? [This hapens while using USB data card]

Is it normal that I can not send SMS or USSD while connected to 3G network using USB data card? When I'm connected to EDGE or GPRS network then I can simultaneously send SMS and USSD but while connected to 3G network this seems impossible -> OR...? Anyone can please enlighten me about this. How can I check for 3G data balance while connected to 3G network. Usually by sending SMS like: MBAL to 55333 I will receive sms with remaining 3G balance. But to keep on disconnecting off the 3G network and reconnecting to the EDGE network to be able to send MBAL SMS is pain in the ass -> at least on Linux Fedora OS (I don't using windblow$ system ages ago)

No you should be able to send sms through 3G network, its not possible with a 2G network.. And also the connection should not be interrupted which is seen in 2G internet.

Thanks! I tried everything but still nothing. When connected to 3G network I tried to send SMS or USSD but after executing command to achive this process just hangs and nothing happens. I will try this on windows machine as well. I think I tried but same thing happened. I have Huweai E1550 USB 3G data card...

Are you using maybe the mobile phone as a "modem" and connect to PC or just browsing internet on mobile? Mobile phones have more functions then small USB data card I think - this is probably normal on the mobile?

Thats not a problem with your network, the problem with the device and its software... this happens when the network signals become too less. and so even(if you noticed) changing between 2G and 3G also hangs the software..

dont be afraid, there would be times when you will send sms.. its just a temperary problem..
