(Moved to proper forum.)

How will Fedora or Linux increase browsing or downloading speed? That is not possible.

download speed is not increased like that but yes in windows a part of bandwidth is reserved for windows update and stuff where linux don't keep any reserved bandwidth apart from that linux users are smart enough to by pass proxies
apart from that we really don't use different firewalls so there are no barriers and please don't ask about any virus on linux... Linux users hardly care about virus

Windows reserves 20% of bandwidth for something called Quality Of Service(qos)... Which affects browsing speed(not downloading)... This option can be disabled or decreased to 0...
And yeah very less chance of virus threat for Linux...

Post Fedora

Part of bandwidth is reserved by windows for "quality maintenance " of the connection ...but it can be easily changed not to do so in order to get full speed.....

I am a Fedora core Power user and yes ..unfortunately nowadays even Linux is effected by viruses .... One even disabled my transcend flash drive

Security Tips for Firewall

Fedora has a built in firewall ...its more powerful than Window's default firewall

Access it by opening the terminal
type in: system-config-firewall

You will find the firewall setting also somewhere in the Gnome or KDE menu

Security tips for Anti-virus

Use (free) clam antivirus [the most popular for Fedora ]
To install clamav:
1. open a terminal
2. su - to become root
3. yum install clamav
4. answer with y, if yum asks

Clamav Anti-virus for Fedora

Unless you r stubborn and run as root ...the chances of viruses attacking fedora are remote . But it may attack ur friend's windows sys thru ur mails or portable devices ...as most windows virus dont run in Linux distributions ... Anyway there are few that do some damage [like it did to me] ....

I'd like to add a point to what shadowcon already mentioned. Not only fedora, all the distributions come with their own default firewall to protect every user. And all those default firewalls are mostly activated by default without the end user's permission (don't you think it's a pain to install and activate a firewall, once the OS has been installed).

As far as virus is concerned, there is a possibility of various kind of attacks under linux too. I always advice to turn ON updates, if it's not enabled by default. And never run ANY application as a root, unless it's required.
