    Default Reliance broadband DNS Hijack

I just discovered that Reliance Broadband intercepts all DNS queries from customer machines, and spoofs a reply.

You can verify this for yourself by setting any random IP address as the DNS server.
You will be able to do DNS lookups - this is because Reliance's server will be replying instead of the server you queried.

This is a problem for me because I use services of OpenDNS.
Can anyone suggest a way for me to solve this problem ?

(b.t.w. isn't this illegal ? Effectively Reliance is stealing the online identity - IP address - of DNS servers all over the world ?)

    HTML Code:
<i> Reliance Broadband DNS server timeout, DNS slow, DNS doesn't work, Slow Browsing Problem </i>

So can someone who has a reliance account confirm or deny my findings ?

Its easy to do - just go to Network Connections ->Local Area Connection -> Properties -> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> Properties -> Advanced -> DNS -> DNS Server alternate addresses and put in any random value as the IP address.
And pls reply to this thread, stating if you can or cannot browse the net after making this change.

(output of ipconfig /all would also be nice, to verify that you didn't make any mistake)

    Question:
Where did you change the DNS to opendns? In the computer or router? Do you connect in bridged or MER/dynamic mode?

Right, that puts the opening poster's statement in question.
