Thumbs down Legal notice from Reliance

I am chaitali chatterjee and am a student from bangalore.
I had taken reliance broadband before 1 year. The day the guy came and installed the connection it worked well for 2 days. But on the 3rd day I was not able to surf, cant send emails also. I called them but they did nt response till 1 week. later my frnd resolved the problem. after a day the same thing was happening and one fine evening there was some eletric shock coming from the cable. I called customer care and spoke wid some Lady supervisor and told her that I want 2 disconnect the connection since that electric shock has damaged my computer screen and LAN card... she told me okay and told that she will close my account. then I received a bill for that month as well as for the second month too. then I received a call from DELHI and I told her all the problem
she told me dat the account is still nt closed so she will close that.

Then after 6 months I get a LEGAL NOTICE asking me to pay the amont of Rs. 2400 and want me to pay within 7 days, failing that they will file a case of 420 under Jurusdiction.
I called customer care again and they told me that they have closed the case on this 15th, Jan, 09.

I dnt understand, when I have not used any thing, why should I pay and why is this Legal Notice for?

Please help me out with this situation, since I am a student and have no idea as to what to do?

Your connection is not closed until you have a written letter / recipt to the same effect.
I've had the same problem with my tata indicom phone. I still have to keep reminding them to close my account every 6 months for the past 2 years :P

Default I too got a Reliance Broadnet Notice..

I too have got a reliance broadnet (broadband) notice to pay some Rs800 outstanding amount, else it says i will be take to court etc..

This is pure cheating and black mail from Reliance. I am planning to call up Reliance and talk to them once other wise i am planning to go to Consumer Court.

I had taken the connection almost over a 1yr back and from then on it just worked for 1-2 months in total. Every time there was a disruption i had to call up the Mumbai helpline no and they would take 15-20 days to resolve. This would work for 10-11 days and it was the same situation again. Hence i asked for disconnection multiple times but they said they'll send a rep. to have a look.

The rep. came and said the connection in my area was not feasible and hence i asked for disconnection so many times that i have lost count. Finally they came and took their stuff last month and now i get the notice. I am really angry with Reliance for this and def. plan to goto consumer court if they push me.

Hey chaitali you can contact me either by PM he or any other way you prefer. I dont mind joining hands with other facing the same issue.

People ..do remember when its serious issue like disconnections or some technical issue, when you call up customer care for the same, doc note down the name of the customer care representative. Ask him to log a ticket no for the same and keep tracking the ticket until your issue is resolved.

    Hi Rahul,

Thanks for the suggestions.. I did the same.. but every time i mail them they open new Service, and says that your old request is resolved.. where as in fact the request still is unresolved. I am facing the same issues as Chaitali's. I am requesting them to close my connecting since one month and they are asking me to pay 13183 for the period in which i took down my connection (physically removed the wimax antenna). I am fade up no following up with Reliance folks. Can someone please point me to higher authorities email address or phone no to escalate this issue at higher level ?

    Thanks

Reliance is known for this practice. I know n no. cases where they have suspended the service but not suspended the billing. This stands for GSM & CDMA also. So even after surrendring ur connection u keep on getting the bills...& finaly a legal notice.

So I suggest ne reliance user who is surrendering the conncetion pls. make sure (follow up) that ur billing is suspended as well.

Default un-professional reliance broadband service - legal notice

Yesterday after almost 1 and half years i got an sms saying that they have sent the legal notice, its been over 2 years i've stopped using reliance broadband. for 3 months followed up with them sent mails to customer care and they told that they will resolve this but as they are know for not keeping their words, they did not.

what is most surprising is, when they gave me the connection they gave the phone and modem and when I asked them to cancel connection they just terminated the phone and not internet, which is so illogical.

i've all the email communications with service request numbers, i'm going to speak to the area manager, hoping to get this resolved.

how come being such a big enterprise they do all such crap I don't really get it. someone should really sue them for the frustration they cause. Already there is so much in life to handle and on top of it this stupid thing.

    Default settlement done

finally i went to reliance customer care and showed them all the email threads i had with them. paid my outstanding bill of the month when i stopped using it.

took the settlement letter and walked off by surrendering them their phone and modem.

never again will i recommend anyone to go for reliance.

In Chennai , the collection Agency came four to five times, and when the user said he had sent email to Pujya Shri ANIL Ambhani, they stopped .
Still they have to collect the ZTE ZXDSL modem831 Aii which I am using now !
( more than an year passed since disconnection !)

Default same thing happened with me

even i was holding the modem for almost 2 years after disconnection, but few days back they sent an sms saying that they had send some legal notice and stuff which made me frustrated and I went to their office and settled things. I think until you get the settlement the onus is on customers. i had stored all the emails and sms which they had sent in relation to the disconnection process 2 years back.

you have applied for disconnection and have a ticket number (Complaint no)
Now when you call next time they say that the previous ticket is resolved, it automatically means that your ticket for disconnection was entertained.. You can use this as legal proof.

Default take the mails and go to their office

I literally went to their office and showed them the emails in my laptop gave them all those service request numbers which were created by email support. they went back with those and checked things (i was waiting outside), they came out and told to clear the outstanding which was due for the last month when i used the connection. I pad them 700 Rs and took the settlement letter.

you might have to go to their customer care office and not to any reliance web world outlet.

    hope this helps.

This thread has been very useful. Rep awarded: take 21 points from me.

    ----
    Some afterthoughts from hindsight:

    a) Keep all records of communication.
    b) Always insist on incident/ticket number when calling customer care. Ask the name of the person who attended the call. Note this info down.
    c) Follow with emails and written communication. Refer ticket numbers and names.
    d) Submit written copies in duplicate. Take a "received" signature and stamp on your copy.
    e) Always follow up and don't give up.
    f) Threaten with legal action in consumer court.

    @hassanali20
You are lucky to be able to impress Just4kix and get 21 reputation points being a Junior Member.
Otherwise its very difficult or nearly impossible to get such a high rep points by a senior member.

Oh! Come now. It is not very difficult to impress me. But I may have missed some good posts to reward. In that case, please do point them out.

hassanali20 really deserved the points because he kept an updated record of all the dealings and thus showed the rest of us on the way to deal with obstinate people.

But today suddenly I got a call from a Legal Advisor, who claims that his client reliance sent a legal notice which was returned back to them unreceived. He said I need to pay the bill immediately so that I dont have to go to the COURT, he said pay and inform the bill no before 12 am today (22-02-2011).
My net connect no is 9311112774

Please guide me what next to do on this.

i too have taken a connection in hyderabad(wireless wimax). When i got transferred to mumbai. i have asked them to disconnect my connection. they did not do that even after many reminders. i came to mumbai and i have requested again and again all the days. they have told me that they will transfer the same connection to mumbai. they did not do that. then after few months i got a legal notice that i have to pay some amount otherwise they will file a case.

i finally paid the amount and got rid of their stupid services. its no use of fighting with them. its plain waste of time. their customer service is so bad.
