    Hi,

I need info on how does Reliance Broadband work. I mean what is he technology that they use

    1) WIRED (ADSL) with telephone.
    2) WIMAX

assuming in case of ADSL their phone is wireless.

They have both options WiMax and ADSL that uses the phone line, in my opinion if you have a choice go for the ADSL option.

dude reliance DSL use BTS(base trans receiver system) technology in which signals are received by BTS site then from that bts optic fiber is taken to a large Cisco Ethernet switch from that switch cat5 wire is taken to our home to give connectivity, actually reliance DSL is far more advanced than any isp around in india because they don't rely on old copper wire phone networks like BSNL and MTNL does, that's the reason u get cent per cent speed and 0% latency in reliance all day long there is no exception of browsing is slow in peak hours and ping times on reliance dsl is lightening fast, and speeds upto 10MbPS.

in wimax ur wimax equipment is connected wirelessly to your nearest BTS

I have a reliance broadband connection and Its on a phone line a splitter is provided and one end goes to the DSL modem and the other to the phone line, just like BSNL broadband.

They must be using fibre optics till the distribution box, but from there its a normal telephone cable that connects to the DSL modem, the cable is a standard telephone copper line.

Have to agree about the latency and the speed, they are the best even during peak hours you get the speed that is promised.

dude they give me connection via 4 pair cat 5 cable that wire is connected to "E" port which u seen in pic, and from green port Ethernet wire is taken to pc, if i connect the main wire to my pc then also i can use my internet without any splitter the modem they have given me its only for telephone they provided.

Hi jatinder911 I am not saying that they dont provide connection via CAT5 ethernet cables, but in our locality in Hyderabad its via copper wire telephone lines to the end customer from the local distribution box.

The connection they provided to me is using a standard ADSL modem, when I got the connection I enquired but they told me that Metro Ethernet is not available in our area, btw I am a techie been an network admin and in the IT industry for the last 13 years.

BTW the ADSL modem make is ZTE ADSL - ZXDSL 831 Series

I think so they provide ethernet mostly in metros for now, correct me if I am wrong, will post you the modem pic if you need to check it out :thumbup1:
