Smile Reliance Data Card in Kashmir?

    Hello,

I am planning to visit kashmir(srinagar, pehngam, gulmarg, sonmarg) in june. Just wanted to ask does reliance data card works there?

If not, then any other data card provider will work? I live in Delhi.

    Thanks
    Vatsal

There are mainly two players in the datacard business - Reliance and Tata Indicom.

You will be best answered on your query by those people only. I am not sure whether we have members from J&K or anyone who went traveling there with the laptop and a laptop+datacard.

But on a side note...... A very friendly advice. Seriously. You are going to Kashmir to enjoy. Leave the laptop at home.

reliance data card would function only in areas served by Reliance CDMA mobile service. R-CDMA service is available only in Jammu and Katra and not in other parts of J&K. Further, as per Govt. regulations only post-paid connections are allowed roaming facilities in J&K and the NE regions.

I have taken Reliance broadband+ connection. It is giving 300kbps download speed in Delhi. Hopefully It will work well in Kashmir also.

    Hello,

It was a great trip. Kashmir is truly a heaven on earth.
However Reliance network is very poor there. It works only in some areas at Srinagar like Boulevard road and that too with a very slow speed at around 12 am at night. It Doesnt work at Pehelgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg or even Houseboat areas in Srinagar.

I took Bsnl data card from my hotel manager and did my work. That is the best service available there.

So guys never go for reliance if you are traveling to Kashmir.
