We had some underground thing going on. No one was sure what it was..but hey, my dad has a very good friend in Reliance and we came to know it was Reliance Broadnet doing this stuff. Well, good job. No bullshit wires hanging around here and there and making the country look disgusting! I like Reliance for choosing underground.
Setting Up
12 June 2009 (Friday)
6 pm: Someone was expected to be here at 5:30 pm, but he came at 6 pm. No worries, he was only half an hour late.Good. He explained us the plans, which I was already aware of pretty well. The only thing he needed to explain was the prepaid system, which no one in my family prefers to use. But there was no solution. We only have prepaid available in our area, which is expensive than postpaid.
13 June 2009 (Saturday)
1:30 pm: Some other guy came this time for wiring from the outside. He was like just doing it for the sake of wiring. Nothing else. He did it, and went. Done. He also brought the modem and phone (which was not needed). So, now the LAN wire coming from outside was left incomplete. He still had to join it to the modem line.

15 June 2009 (Monday)
The same wiring guy was supposed to set up the connection, after it activated the same day. But they said that there was some problem, in their server at Mumbai. It took like so long. The guy said that it would activate on 10.30 am, the next day.
16 June 2009 (Tuesday)
10:30 pm: Not activated. The guy doesn't pick up the phone.
12 pm: My dad told me that it would work at around 3 pm.
7:40 pm: Finally, the guy came. He was too late. Blame him for coming late. The connection got activated much closer to 3 pm.
The connection was working fine. We had chosen the 150 Kbps Flat Fee Plan, and the expected speed was of 18 KBps average while downloading. The guy that introduced us the plans and all said that it would come to around 25 KBps average. I told him the bits and bytes funda, and he said he agrees. And then he said, "But this is the way it happens in Reliance. You get more speed than your connection says!!"
Lol. I thought he was stupid. Well, he is. The average speed is 18 KBps, but yes, the speed goes to 20-26 KBps.
17 June 2009 (Wednesday)
5:30 pm: Password problem. One warning to all of those using prepaid (which you should know before you start using this connection). Once you log in, before turning off your computer, you have to properly log out (in case you also turn your modem off). Otherwise, your password won't work. You would have to call the customer care to reset the password which would take around 30 minutes to 6 hours. (It usually took 35 minutes for me). The connection was working again. At night, I put some stuff up for downloading. It went and then maybe the big disaster. It automatically logged out or whatever. But the downloads didn't complete when I woke up. Probably automatic logout thing.
18 June 2009 (Thursday)
1 - 1:30 pm: The connection stopped. A guy in their team had unplugged something without realising that we were connected through it. And then he went somewhere outside with the key to that box. So we had n chance that day.
19 June 2009 (Friday)
10:30 am: The wiring guy came to see what was wrong. Was anything else wrong except that wire which was unplugged ? Nothing much. Then he called the person who went out of station (probably to Delhi). He said he'll be back somewhere near 3 to 4 pm.
5 pm: No help.
6:57 pm: He came, switched on the modem, checked if it was working, and went within like 3 minutes. Gone with the wind !!
8 pm: The connection worked till this time. That's 1 hour and 2 minutes.
I was very angry. The connection sucked as for then. No one would pick up the call. The customer care sucked too. Probably their local network was down. Our Reliance phone was not working. And my friend called and told me his Reliance NetConnect was also not working (Zero Signal).
20 June 2009 (Saturday)
6 am: My brother woke up and checked the connection. It was working. Was slow at first, but then it was back to normal speed.
The people
1.They don't work in the heat. So, don't bug them in the afternoon.
2. They don't pick up their mobiles. Some keep their mobiles turned off in the heat.
3. They show you no respect.
4. When you call their boss, they beg you not to call them.
5. The lower post people are very rude.
6. Slow service. Too careles. Probably new to broadband stuff.
7. Lack team coordination.
8. They are trying to compete with BSNL. I heard the guy talk about it to some person he called while he was here trying to fix the connection. But the truth is - most BSNL users are using limited plans which gives them around 100-200 KBps (2 Mbps), but in Reliance limited plans, they only have a 1 Mbps plan in Speed Select. So no true 1 Mbps plan.
Conclusion: Poor service. Rude and lazy people. Good speed. Automatically Log out. Not good for downloaders.
