Thread: Bachelors need to pay RS 500 extra to get Reliance Netconnect - Descrimintation?

On Saturday, I went to Reliance Web World, MG Road, Pune to take a new Netconnect broadband connection.

She first told me that I have to make an initial payment of RS 4000. I told her that my friends had taken it by paying just RS 3500 and your site says it just costs 3500. Then she agreed. She told me if you pay 4000 now, you will get one month's rent free. I opted for a plan which costs 1099 rent per month with 5Gb of data transfer. I agreed to pay 4000 because I am going to gain in the deal. I filled up the application form, they affixed the photo and they handed over usb kit to me.

I had one of my friend with me and she asked me before making the payment whether you guys are staying together. I told, yes. Then she told, since you are a bachelor, you need to pay Rs 500 extra with your initial payment as security deposit. I was not convinced why I have to pay 500 extra by being a bachelor and she couldn't give me a convincing answer. I refused to take the connection and left the web world. It felt for me that she is trying to gain the discounted money through other means when she realized her fault of giving discount!

So two question?

- What the f*** Reliance is going to do with a 500 RS security if I fault on payment being a bachelor? (Now I know how Ambani makes money and how to be rich and affluent)

- I have a lot of services like mobile, land line broadband from Reliance and BSNL and none of them has demanded any money from me for being a bachelor. Do you guyz have any experience?

But in the long run, you will find the Rs. 500 deposit will be cheaper than installing a wife.

What Reliance is doing is wrong. If they want to take a deposit, they must make the T&C perfectly clear on paper.

Suggestion:
Go to Airtel or BSNL.

Sadique, you should have asked to speak to her supervisor and
asked for the reason for the extra 500. maybe the first person
was misinformed.

Correct .... I am surprised you fell for that ... i am a guy living alone and i did not have to pay any extra fee to get Netconnect BB+ .... how did you believe that ,it sounds so silly ...

you must be kiddin !! i too am a bachelor n i got it for 3500 bucks some 2 months back... must be some gimmick by that outlet.. why dont you confirm with the reliance broadband customer support... i have been using it since the last 2 months and my experience so far has been good.. no probs with bill and the speed is also good...

I felt humiliated when she told me that I have to pay 500 RS for being a bachelor. So my first reaction was to tear down the application form in front of her and exit the web world immediately in protest!

Who knows the supervisor is going to be different?

I am not kidding. This was my real experience with reliance web world in MG Road, Pune on 1st Aug. You see how Reliance is trying to cheat people and Ambani becomes richer day by day!

Sadiq..it must be because the staff of this particular outlet is misformed ... Why didnt u try any other outlet..??

Have not had enough time to drive to their other outlets. Something to do in the coming weekends.

Totally saved Rs 2900 that I should have lost if I take it from MG road reliance web world.
