    Arrow Linksys wireless router HELP

    Hello Priyan,

Thank you for offering your help in this and other forums. I am a new Reliance broadband customer and have a problem. I just switched over from Bsnl BB to reliance, and am not able to use my wireless router. Whenever I route the connection though the router, I am not able to get through to the internet, but when directly connected from the modem the net is accessible. I have been using this router with my earlier connection with no problems, and just to be extra sure i have reset the router and its now in factory default settings. I have a Linksys WRH54G router (with default firmware) and the reliance modem issued is a UTstarcom (UT-300R2) adsl modem.

I did contact the Reliance BB CC, those guys told me that they cant help me in anyway and to get the help of a local techie to setup the router. I have tried various settings but to no avail.

Please help me here.. thanks in advance.

Some of the main settings are :-

    1) Internet connection settings : Automatic configuration DHCP /Satic IP / PPPoe- Currently in PPPoe
    2)PPPoe passthrough: currently enabled
    3)Advanced Routing : Gateway/ Router - Currently router

While wifi issues on Reliance is a hot topic here, you need to change your settings.

PPPOE does not work. Change to MER or Dynamic mode and try. I think that would be the automatic configuration DHCP in your list.

Did that mate...but no use...the router is still a dud.

Why does these reliance guys have to make it so very f***ing difficult to set up the connection with their So called extra-safety-feature web based log in , instead of the regular pppoe method? its so bloody frustrating. I hope some morons in reliance who came up with this idea of putting its customers through all this trouble can get some light into their thick skull...The worst part is the reliance cc...those guys just know how to wail...wheee wheee.. sorry we cant help you with internet sharing..whee... go talk to the reliance sales person who sold you the connection, may be he will help....wheeee.. sob sob..wheeeee. CRAP!

Linksys WRH54G router (with default firmware) and the reliance modem issued is a UTstarcom (UT-300R2)
Go to sub forum " Broadband How to >>>>"
select the guide for your set up.
Instead of WRH54G wrt54g may be listed.
    Procedure is same.

Confirm how you connect to Internet ?
"Dialer "( wanminiport " "Bridged") connection
    or
    "Always On " ( ppp/PPPoE ) mode.

Whatever settings you had done for WIFI post this data
    START RUN type cmd Ok
    New window opens
    type ipconfig /all
    Copy/Paste data here without editing.

When you select " view wireless networks "
do you get your own or any other secured/unsecured wifi links ?

    Hi,

    I agree on the username/password bit -

Why oh why is this required ? What extra security does this provide for a wired connection ? Why cant it be always on ?

Reliance probably does not realise that there are other devices which use an internet connection and need the connection to be always on ?

Priyan - Can you respond to this please ? I would love to understand the reasoning behind this.

    cheers,
    bluetooth

Note that pinging any external server/website continuously using '-t' option means that you are exchanging packets over the internet (32 bytes per ping). This will add to the usage.

Assuming an average response time of 250 ms per ping, this means:
    • 4 pings per second
    • 32 bytes per ping
    • 128 bytes per second as usage
    • 450 KB per hour
    • 10800 KB per 24 hours
This is not an issue for unlimited connection but could be for limited usage plans.

@deep: that person is asking for always on remedy so it means he is on UL plan if he triggers the unending ping then DHCP server will not log him out, the problem in Reliance web based login is if u don't transmit or receive a single byte then DHCP will log ur id out after 30 mins!!

right now I'm on 300 kbps plan as u can see in screen-shot below I'm a watching a you tube video with a ping running continuously and also see Du meter screen-shot I'm getting 310kbps+(screen shot taken after 47 seconds to eliminate speed bursts) so that ping is not hogging bandwidth!!this is the only way u can keep ur net 24X7 logged in.

I am in Kondhwa PUNE and looks like Reliance LL and BB both are down for couple of days. I tried calling CS number of times and as usual I get a response saying that the Tech Support will call me in 24 hours, which they never do anyway.
Well, came to know that PMC Commissioner has cut all the Reliance Pune fiber optic cable in the City, I am not sure how true is that. There is no way I can confirm this with CS, because they have any clue. Every time they try to troubleshoot my connection by saying "Are you in front of your PC"

Can anyone confirm the issues with Reliance LL and BB in Pune please

    Thanks

Thumbs down Reliance not allowing me to migrate in 649 combo Plan

I am a reliance broadband customer. Currently using 300 kbps flat plan and paying 799 rental.
I got the information of combo plans of reliance. I called customer care to migrate to the 649 plan( 300kbps+150 rupees calls free).
They told me that existing customers cant migrate to the combo plans. They told that to migrate to 649 combo plan i need to disconnect the current connection and apply for a fresh connection and pay the Installation charges again.I am using reliance from long time and pay all bills on time. I cant get the logic of disconnecting the connection which i am already having. Why cant they simply give me land line on same billing account number???
Whats the benefit if the current customers cant get the plan.
    Can any one help me????
    My details below-

@abhi: if u subscribe to new connection and opted for combo plan then u cannot migrate to flat fee plan so it means u have only 3 bandwidth options 100,300 and 500 kbps!! i don't know who made this crazy rule.

    Hi,

You can migrate to a combo plan but you will need to buy a POTS connection under same BAN and then this will be combined.

Have arranged for a sales guy to contact you in a day or two, hope this will resolve your issue.

    Warm Regards,
    Reliance Broadband(Priyan)

For the knowledge of others like me, what is this POTS? And how much does this cost?

It is funny someone can not directly switch to a plan of choice - a Reliance specialty?

    Default Hi,

I am extremely sorry, POTS is just technical name for Landline.

And to migrate to a combo plan, basic requirement is to have the combo i.e. Landline + Internet.

For those who are already combo users they can migrate to plans for those who are not they have to have both the connections under same Billing Account Number (BAN)

    Warm regards,
    Reliance Broadband
