    Default Vonage (VOIP) phone issues

    I shifted from Tata (static ip but expensive and slow) to Reliance 649 combo plan one month ago under the assurance that we could configure the voip phone. WE managed to configure the phone and it worked fine for 3 weeks until reliance had some server issues and once they rectified it my voip phone ceased to work. I contacted reliance and they said u can use it if u know how to config it. I called a techie and he tried to config but it didnt work this time. He says reliance must have blocked the voip port. I called R care and they said they cant disclose details of my voip ports. KIndly reply with soln regarding this prob. Do other reliance plans offer static IP? if so which all plans?

    1.Confirm , whether Reliance supplied you an ADSL modem and fgive the details
    Modem make/model number.
    2.Confirm, you are NOT USING a "Dialer ' mode to connect to Internet.
    3.Confirm your computer works fine and you can surf.
    4.When you connect the RJ45 from computer end to Vonage Unit , what is the error messages you receive ?
    5. Do you get any Icon in the LCD screen ?
    Globe Monitor Telephone.
    6. When you lift the handset do you get recorded message from Vonage ?
    7.
    Vonage Unit is preset, and practically
    running trouble free for more than two years for me.
    8. From your computer
    Start RUN type cmd OK
    New window opens.
    type ipconfig /all
    Copy/paste the data here.
    9. With Vonage unit connected and another Rj45 from that unit to computer
    type 192.168.15.1
    do you get Vonage Log in screen ?
    More details later on feedback.

    1) yes they gave adsl modem UTStarcom. model UT-300R2

    2)not using dialer..justhaveto log in to reliance website once in a while to renew

    3)no, i dont have any net issues when i dont connect the vonage.

    4)no error messages when i connect rj45 to pc 4m vonage..but net doesnt work then as reliance cannot log me in. it gives the message "There was a problem logging into the account. Please call the NOC, there may be another computer logged in already".

    5)what LCD screen do u mean? i use a vonage adapter motorollas VT2442

    6)This telephone line cannot connect to the vonage network is the message i get.

    7)yes, i dint have any vonageissues with TATA connection. i Used it fo more than 2 years

    hay

    you told you are not able to login to reliance page

    the problem is somebody using your id & password or you have not logged out properly

    change your password first

    for reliance broadband normally u will get 123.***.***.*** series ip address

    but you are 192.***.***.*** series

    i think you are using router (or) your utstarcom modem is natting enabled

    i think there is a problem with your modem configration only

    PRECAUTION
    You have to access the modem menu pages
    and save the present settings ( backup) to say
    C:/MY Documents/Reliance working
    ( see Under Tools ) Save Reboot.
    May need if connection gets lost after changes below.

    Para two:
    Now again open the menu
    and change in WAN page settings to PPPoE
    instead of "Bridged"
    Enter Reliance given userId and password.
    Enable DHCP in ( Probably in LAN menu page)192.168.1.2 to say 192.168.1.50
    Save Reboot. Wait for two minutes.

    Report whether you get connected to Internet..

    i am sorry bro. but i cant access the utstar modem settings page..i typed 192.168.1.1 in my web page..but it cant open. reliance doesnt allow configuring the modem they gave.i can only configure the vonage adapter. any other solutions?

    When you are connected to Internet check your IP
    Current IP Check
    Type the IP in the address bar.
    A window will open saying '
    "Adsl modem router at IP x xxxxxx needs authentication" etc
    type admin admin
    if not working try user password
    if not working try support password.

    Feedback.

    The modem address can be anything.
    What you have reported as Default IP is the modem address.
    The first one is for your computer.
    Unless you enable DHCP vonage will not work.

    i checked my current ip address . it was 123.236.65.15.
    i entered it into web browser but am not getting modem page. firefox saying unable to connect.the last time when vonage worked on reliance conn was when the guy configured the vonage adapter only. cant we try that way?

    OK. First select back up settings in Vonage. and save to say C:/My Documents/vonage worked earlier.
    Since you have mentioned it worked for three weeks earlier.
    Try this.
    The IP you had given is not valid ( private LAN) and seems different to old one.
    Are you dealing with Reliance OR
    one of theiragents ( franchisee?)

    TRY this first.
    START NETWORK
    show all connectrions
    select LAN
    Properties
    Network settings
    select TCP/IP
    properties
    if entries are made select
    Obtain IP address automatically.
    APPLY SAVE.
    Check/ confirm Internet surfing
    and post ipconfig /alldata again.

    which ip ad are u talking about? 123. ... is reliance no? we are dealing with reliance directly.
    abt the process u stated. My tcp/ipsettings were alreadyset to automatic obtain ip. the prob is each time i connect the vonage and try to acces net, the reliance log on page opens and it fails to authenticate my username and password.my settings after connecting vonagedoesnt seem to have changed from last time. btw wen i connect vonage andopenthe vonage address it says both a wan and lan are connected ( but i cant acces net )but the phone status is showing idle.

    i copy pasted the data given on the vonage address page 192.168.15.1

    MAC is vonages identification..like mobile phones have an ID. it is marked on the vonage phone.
