I have a desktop and a laptop. I am able to connect internet quite well with my desktop( it has Windows XP) however my laptop( it has Windows XP too) does not gets connected to internet. I receive automatic ip address on my laptop from the DHCP Server as I get it on my desktop however the ping Test Fails. I have compared all the settings in the Internet Option tab in control panal in my desktop and laptop but still no progress.

I had this problem earlier too but the Sify person solved it and i was able to get the internet on my laptop. Now as that person has moved away I am not able to find how he fixed the problem. I recently formatted my PC and installed Windows XP on my laptop because of virus. Since then i am having problem with internet.

Any help to solve this will be greatly appreciated.
