Default Netgear wgr614 router configuration (screen shots)

    Hi guys

I will try to explain step by step process of configuring NETGEAR WGR614 WI-FI ROUTER with reliance broadband.
I am not a techie guy..... but done it in my own way n its working with out any problem for past 18 months.

Before going to the NETGEAR , we have to find our DNS first.

Connect the reliance provided modem with your pc, login with ur ID n PSWD

In the command prompt type - ipconfig/all
DNS can be found. Make a note of ur DNS.

Now disconnect the reliance modem from your pc and reboot. Disable your WI-FI if ur using a laptop. Use ethernet port for configuration of router.

Connect your NETGEAR router to ur P.C thru RJ-45 cable and plug it on. Cable can be connected to any of the LAN port of the Router (1,2,3,4).

Take an Internet explorer and type
    http://192.168.1.1 or
    http://192.168.0.1 0r
    http://routerlogin.net or
    http://routerlogin.com

It will ask Login and Password
    Login: admin
Password : password (both are default)

Now you are in the router configuration page
    click on
1.BASIC SETTINGS (refer to the pic which i uploaded).
DOES YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRE A LOGIN : NO (JUST PUT NO AS IN THE UPLOADED PIC)
Use the DNS which you made a note already... after finishing click on APPLY

2.Now come to Advanced - Wireless setting (refer to the pic uploaded). U can give SSID (any name) according to your choice.
For security passphrase use a mix of alphanumeric characters
    After finishing click on APPLY

3.Now come to Advanced - LAN Set up (refer the pic uploaded) and give the IP (private I.P's) as in the pic. After finishing click on APPLY

Reboot your P.C. Disconnect the RJ-45 cable .

Now connect the WAN port of your Reliance modem and the Internet port (yellow colour) of the NETGEAR router by RJ-45 cable

Switch on your Wi-Fi in Laptop.
    Thats it.... u r online......

In Ip config /all Computer Ip and default Gateway of reliance will be shown.
No need to blank it. in screen shot.

Does it make any difference Bro?? whether I.P blanked or not?
By the way in the basic setting page (screen shot) "get the ip dynamically" shows my reliance modem I.P address not the private I.P address.
As far as i know ipconfig/all is used in command prompt. I didnt put any screen shot of command prompt window here.
I've put the screen shot of Router page and it shows the reliance modem I.P. So juz blanked it...thts all...

I've uploaded the router status page as well.

Do you get the same IP address , everytime you connect ? If so , you are justified in
    blanking it.
    http://whatismyipaddress.com/
Even , if you had given it , nothing can be
done by anybody to your connection/system, but will give clear idea to a beginner.!
Worst case scenerio: your modem can be accessed. Even here, if you had changed the UserID/PW , dead end !

see mine; Airtel Gateway. MY "Dynamic IP" which is different , does not appear in ipconfig /all or router status page etc, to post here.

Got a private msg frm a user

"Is your netgear still working on relaince broadnet
hi there i read your configuration about netgear router i wanted to ask if your netgear is working with reliance because i read somewhere that reliance has started blocking routers other then theirs actually i've wanted to buy this router and i needed to confirm please reply if you can
    Jimmy
    thanks"

    Dear Jimmy
My reliance is working fine with NETGEAR ROUTER so far. I dont think that they will be blocking any routers. We are connecting to the modem given by reliance, not to router straight. cheers

    Please see this thread.
http://www.indiabroadband.net/relian...-broadnet.html (Configuring wireless network with reliance broadnet)
Wa3002-g4 is a three in one model ( screen shots etc available in link given below)
    Adslmodem/4lanport/wifi router.
    No WAN port available.
Suggested using Lan1 from reliance modem.
Any change about DHCP server entries also clarify.
    Thanks.

    Wa3002-g4 should work independently.
