    1. Configure your modem in PPPoE mode.

    2. Enable DHCP in your modem.

Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser, enter ID and password as admin. Browse through the pages. You will find the option to enable DHCP.

    3. For both systems in LAN properties, " Obtain IP addresses automatically ".

Do you by any chance using one laptop and one desktop ? If so switch to Windows 7 and use connectify.

If you configure it in PPPoE mode there is no need to use a proxy software.

To configure in PPPoE and Enable DHCP, you need to log into the modem.

    1. Type 192.1681.1 in the browser.

    2. ID and password is admin. In some case password will be password or root.

    3. In the internet connection page, you will find an option to choose between PPPoE and Bridge mode.

    4. If you browse through the pages to find an option to enable DHCP also.

Before changing modem settings, take a back up of the current settings. Just in case you do something wrong.
