    Default !!!....pls help...!!!!

    Hello Guys,

I have been using Reliance broadnet connection for over a year now.

I dont have a modem and i use the cable net facility from Reliance.

I have D-Link 802.11g/2.4Ghz Router. I just have one laptop at home and get connected to Reliance broadnet through Wireless modem.

Recently i have started having problems with the connectivity. Instead of getting the Reliance login page, I get page cannot be displayed msg. I m surprised coz, these are the same settings which were working for a long time and they still do... but time and again 'page cannot be displayed' msg keeps popping up...

Though when the 'page cannot be displayed' msg pops up, and i try to slip the WAN cable directly into the laptop the internet works just fine!!!! Its only when i slip the cable into the bak of WAN port of wireless router.

Settings i use are as follows.

in the wireless net connection Ip is 192.168.0.xxxx and defauly getway is 192.168.0.1 primary dns is 192.168.0.1

Does any1 have anything to help me with??

    hey astitva_11,

This is reliance upto there cheap tricks and being mean & petty.

I too faced a similar problem. Till 20/10/08 everything was fine. I have a linksys router which I use to connect my laptop & my iphone. On 21st both devices could not access the net. I checked by connecting the modem physically to my laptop it was working. When I reverted to the router, I noticed router had IP address 0.0.0.0.

Well the solution is to clone your laptops MAC address in your router. I did that and it works. Dont really know where/how to clone it in a D-link router though. You will have to figure that out by going into the router admin utilitiy.

I had read about this issue in other forums, but that was for Wimax. Obviously the same Reliance evil minds have now percolated to broadnet as well !

I spoke to CC and asked them - Their answer - We cannot help you since it is your router and Reliance does not provide help on routers !!! :-). Obviously they would not register my complaint (hence no reference no.) but promised me that he would escalate it offline and I would get a call from their tech centre. Of course that will never happen.

    Stupid idiots.

    cheers.

hey you can surely go for wireless with your relaince bb.there is no need to login to router every time.It keeps you connected automatically so there is no need to logion again and again.simply need to configure the wireless once on your machine's and it will work.

    hi Bluetooth and others,

I bought netgear wireless router (WGR614) yesterday and am trying to configure reliance broadnet through it. I read this entire post, but am still not able to succeed. In your last post you said that I have to copy my laptop's mac address onto router - Could you please elaborate on that?

    Thumbs up

Dude, there is no need to map the laptops mac onto router.
apart form that it is suggested that you use DHCP and select automatic ip detection for your WAN. if tht doesnt work revert back to me.

    hey guys,
I just finished configuring my netgear wireless router for reliance broadnet connection. The DHCP thing didn't work, however, I had to choose ISP as Telstra Bigpond and then proceed with the settings. I am not sure whether it is safe to post the entire settings for a layman here or not ?? I tried hard but could not find any post on the net which can help a layman configure the net on the latest netgear router. So, should i post it here ?

True, they have nothing but dumb answers.

My ADSL router works most of the time, but I run into this problem occasionally where the modem direct connects fine but not the router. The router just gets a 0.0.0.0

I did a little research and the MPOA link is down whenever this happens. Googling suggests this link is needed for a router to connect but not for a modem. I am guessing it is a temporary problem on Reliance servers that this link goes off. Always this issue is temporary, with the router getting back to life in a few hours. On one instance, the router worked when I did a reset of the router.

Customercare as usual shrugs off responsibility saying as long as the modem works they have nothing to do with it and you should contact the hardware vendor etc., but I did hear on interrogation of the tech guys there that this is a server issue. So it is not deliberate suppression but a server issue (Which they try to hush up) as I understand it.

I have written to the higher ups to confirm whether or not Reliance supports Wifi router and requested that they notify that clearly (on website etc.) if it does not.

    HEY GUYS,

I finished configuring reliance broadnet for the netgear wireless router yesterday. However, am having an issue - If I logged in from laptop-1 and den later if the connection gets logged out due to inactivity. Then, i can only login back from Laptop-1, the only way I can login from laptop-2 is to properly logout from laptop-1. Is there any way around this ?? If in the worst case, if the laptop 1 is not scheduled to come back near the wireless network for next 3 days, what is the way out ?

    @deep4u
How do you connect Laptop 1 to Reliance Broadnet?
Dialer ( WAN MINIPORT) "Bridged" OR
"Always On" ppp/PPPoE . This is preferred.
Mention modem make model supplied by Reliance .
Is it ZTE ZXDSL 831 AII ?

if the laptop 1 is not scheduled to come back near the wireless network for next 3 days
How do you do this ?

The Solution to all your problems is getting a static IP.

Have been using it since last one year on my Linksys WRT600N

    Cheers :54::54::54:

Reliance does not allow PPPOE or Bridge mode. Only Dynamic IP works, given the non-standard authentication in a web page.

Map the MAC Address of Laptop that u use frequently into the router, that should solve ur problem.

my dsl modem is UT 300 R2. I connect laptop1 to modem via a netgear wireless router using a direct connection - neither bridged or PPPoE. Reliance doesnt work with either of them.

About laptop1 being away from the network, i just meant that if the person who owns laptop1 is out of town for a few days.

    Disconnect Netgear WIFI router.
From modem Ut300r2 Lan port to Laptop2 ethernet port.
Do you get connected to Internet and can surf ?

    Repeat for Laptop 1.
If OK post ipconfig /all for both laptops.
(START RUN type cmd type ipconfig /all)
    REF:
    UT-300R2 ADSL MODEM MULTIUSER CONFIGURATION

    Feedback.

    Hello,

I am new to this forum. After reading this whole thread I saw the mis-conceptions people are having that their router is bad or the reliance has done something to their router or it is blocked etc. This is all crap, they cannot do it.

Secondly i must say that Reliance is controlling this login thing issues using their DNS. The router connects to their network and the authentication is DNS based. As soon as you try to connect to any site etc. relaince DNS checks if you're logged in or not and if not then you're redirected to the login page. This is all being done at their end and hence till now I have not found a way to skip this.

Now for the modem and wifi router issues: I am having Utstarcom + Netgear 614 v6. I am able to connect successfully with multiple pc's/laptops and no matter whichever pc/laptop is turned on, only 1st machine has to do the login and rest works without login.

Tip to a guy who is running a cron job in linux to avoid inactivity: Just run pin to yahoo.com and you won't get loggged out ever atleast due to inactivity. This can work for Windows people or any other operating system also.

Anyways the most probably you're getting 0.0.0.0 coz Reliance modem takes sometime to login to their server etc. and then IP's etc are allocated, this just does'nt happens instantly. So just turn on the modem/router and wait for 5 mins. and then check if you're router still has 0.0.0.0.

I also made a autologin script so that you don't have to specify your user/pass again and again and just by running it will login but that does'nt works as reliance is doing a referrer check also. And I must say that Reliance has managed to get a smart bastard for their broardnet division who is taking it all personal and making sure that no one is able to get in without logging in.

The static IP thing as mentioned by someone is new concept, I will try that and update here if its the ultimate solution but whats the point if it costs Rs, 500 extra per month ? :-p

Anyways I will keep on checking and will update here incase anyone finds out.

    Thanks.

Dude. I agree that Reliance may not intentionally block routers but I'm sure its possible and that there is some setting that allows/disallows it. The reason I say this is there are some towers (very few) that if I force the Antennae to connect to will just refuse to assign an IP to my router, no matter how long I wait for it to assign an IP. but when I connect directly to my comp it assigns one immediately.
    Just my 2 cents...

    Hello,

Might be possibl coz we don't have Wi-Max thing in our city so I am not sure about it but I am sure about the Wired Modem + Router thing.

    Thanks.

Same with wired line. At times, you can get an IP for a PC but not a router - no misconceptions there as you mention - it is a fact.

Btw, the MAC ID of any device specifies what type of device it is.

    @Glass
I haved not read the thread fully, but remember, you mentioned something about "MER" setting only will work for Reliance ( MAC address and all that ).
Not very familiar with reliance withBB plans.
    para two:
When you are connected to Internet
find the ip Dynamic or static Ip address
Then type it in address bar.
Window message may appear asking for router ID and PW.
