Hi, There are different guys depending on which area u live in. Try calling the people who installed it for you and they will tell u. However, a better idea is to contact rel cust service or a sales agent and tell them u wnat a router. You have to pay a charge of Rs 500 and then they come and install it.

regards..

ALthough, i would advise you to go and buy the router from SP road or any computer shop. The one I use is available for abt Rs 2500 in bangalore. The reason i suggest this is because it is a good router, and lets say you choose a different servcie provider in future, you wont have to redo the network setup at home. (assuming if the pathetic customer servcie and hopeless reliance people you may have to intereact with in future)

regards...

Hi, are u looking at wireless connections or wired connection or a mix ?
are all these laptops or desktops? or a combination of both?

Depending on that the easiest way would be to buy either a wireless router or a regular router with 6 lan ports.

Refer to my earlier post on how to configure the wi-fi router.
In essence its simple.
1. First start your modem. wait for it to boot completely.
2. Connect your modem out cable to the WAN port on your router.
3. Congfigure your router -> Enter the DNS IP's, select option to get IP automatically
4. Connect your laptop/PC to your router and you are on.

cheers.
Hi,

I too am trying to set up a wireless network using the linksys WRT54G router. I am not a techie..tried reaching reliance..useless people...

First thing How do I manually configure the router settings...I currently have the CD option..

Guess once I am unable to use the manual configurations.. I shall try using the steps mentioned above...

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Assuming you have a reliance wimax conneciton and you DO NOT have a static IP an d you've connected and wired everything--
1. On the router setup page - use conneciton type "Automatic - DHCP"
(you cna access teh router page by going to: http://192.168.1.1 (or as mentioned in ur manual) (user name and password are also emntioned in the manual)

2. Save the settings. To access internet, that is all you need to do.

3. If you need to use a torrent application then you need to go to "application and games" and forward ports there.

let me know if this helped.
