I have a linksys router and dont have any problems connecting the same, I have a wired connection from the router and use the wifi for the other 2 laptops and it works without any problems.

The thing to note for those who are thinking that reliance has blocked there router is to set the router IP to 192.168.10.1 instead of 192.168.1.1 this might help.

Also make sure you logout your reliance session before attempting to setup the connection with your router otherwise it might lock you out for couple of hrs due to detection of another MAC address.

Thumbs up ADSL Configuration

Hi

I do agree with all of you that the reliance response is pathetic and after talking to them you feel like banging your head in the wall.

Well the reliance UTStar modem has a IP 192.168.1.1. So basically u need to give ur Pc an IP 192.168.1.2 and connect. Username admin and P/w utstar.

The entire configuration is visible.

Reliance fellows kindly note and reduce your incompetencies by learning from this forum

Cheers

I am using a Netgear wifi router to access my broadnet connection. As you have given below, the reliance help desk people are completely clueless !!! and need help from all of us folks to resolve problems !!! Thats another story for another day.....

Anyway coming back to your question of configuration, heres how -

1. Start your ADSL modem. Dont connect the ethernet cable to the router yet.
Wait for the WAN & PPOE indicator to glow on the modem.
2. Connect the cable from the modem to the WAN port on the router.
3. Turn on wifi on the laptop/PC.
4. If its XP, then it will automatically detect the router or you can manually detect the router as well.
5. The router will start a wizard (first time setup) for the type of connection to be used etc. I could not make the connection work that way, so go for the manual mode for configuration. You will find the instructions in the router user guide on how to do that. Enter the information there. Basically all you need is the DNS address of Reliance. Enter that information and save.
6. Ensure your PC/Laptop is setup for dynamic IP (DHCP).
7. And you are on.

Key thing is - The netgear wizard doesn't seem to work and you have to have the DNS info. I cant remember if I called customer care for that though....

Hope this helps !

Good Luck !

cheers.
This worked! thanks!

Glad to help !

Hi Shweta,

In case of WRT54G2, just insert the CD which comes with the router and follow the instructions. The wizard (when you run the CD) does everything.

I bought this router literrally 7 days ago, hence I know :-)

You can post your issues here.

cheers.

Default !!!....pls help...!!!!

Hello Guys,

I have been using Reliance broadnet connection for over a year now.

I dont have a modem and i use the cable net facility from Reliance.

I have D-Link 802.11g/2.4Ghz Router. I just have one laptop at home and get connected to Reliance broadnet through Wireless modem.

Recently i have started having problems with the connectivity. Instead of getting the Reliance login page, I get page cannot be displayed msg. I m surprised coz, these are the same settings which were working for a long time and they still do... but time and again 'page cannot be displayed' msg keeps popping up...

Though when the 'page cannot be displayed' msg pops up, and i try to slip the WAN cable directly into the laptop the internet works just fine!!!! Its only when i slip the cable into the bak of WAN port of wireless router.

Settings i use are as follows.

in the wireless net connection Ip is 192.168.0.xxxx and defauly getway is 192.168.0.1 primary dns is 192.168.0.1

Does any1 have anything to help me with??

hey astitva_11,

This is reliance upto there cheap tricks and being mean & petty.

I too faced a similar problem. Till 20/10/08 everything was fine. I have a linksys router which I use to connect my laptop & my iphone. On 21st both devices could not access the net. I checked by connecting the modem physically to my laptop it was working. When I reverted to the router, I noticed router had IP address 0.0.0.0.

Well the solution is to clone your laptops MAC address in your router. I did that and it works. Dont really know where/how to clone it in a D-link router though. You will have to figure that out by going into the router admin utilitiy.

I had read about this issue in other forums, but that was for Wimax. Obviously the same Reliance evil minds have now percolated to broadnet as well !

I spoke to CC and asked them - Their answer - We cannot help you since it is your router and Reliance does not provide help on routers !!! :-). Obviously they would not register my complaint (hence no reference no.) but promised me that he would escalate it offline and I would get a call from their tech centre. Of course that will never happen.

Stupid idiots.

cheers.
