    Default Reliance Broadband Connection Rocks

For any given tariff plan Reliance Broadband rates are the most competitive, not only that, the Customer support is excellent, a far cry from it's former self. Downtime is close to nil and speeds are steady. Check out my speed test results:

Bandra West, Mumbai. When i had applied it was a 300 kpbs unlimited downloads connection @ Rs.649 per month, but when the tariffs went down about 3-4 months ago, they automatically upgraded my connection to 600 kbps for the same price. It was a very pleasant surprise, wasn't even notified of it or anything.

Installation of 150 free call telephone, cable and modem was free then, i believe they now charge a 500 rupee deposit.

I agree that Reliance provides faster and cheaper broadband than all others. But I am not satisfied with their customer service (at least in Pune). Also, Reliance is unable to offer wired broadband at many parts of the city.

Yes customer care is DUMBEST not in Pune but all over India, also the reason why Reliance don't lay Metro Ethernet every where because of its high costs, Metro Ethernet DSLAM cost approx 1.5 lakh and from that they can only accommodate 24 connection so per 24 connections they have to invest 1.5 lakh, if they get lots of new connection request from a particular area only then they will incorporate their infrastructure.

Do you know in which areas do they offer their wired broadband service? I am in sinchannagar/range hill road area. Are you aware of their availability in that area?

Must be some initial teething troubles, hope it improves at your end, i received a return call within the hour on the rare occasions that i have had to call them.
I have their bus-box in the terrace of my building connected to an in inch thick optical fiber underground cable and there are only two connections coming out of it. I think it is a good thing that they do not offer their services in areas where they are not able to provide a quality connection. There's another building less than 100 feet away. They could easily have stretched a Cat 5 cable to it from my place, yet connections have been denied there.

I think they have the facility in some buildings around Rebello House, Holy Family Hospital.

Yeah, why don't you call them at the toll free and inquire. They will do a feasibility test and let you know. You could even mail them at broadband@relianceada.com

Give this a shot: Start>>Run>>type "cmd" in field and click on OK. In the command prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns" (both commands without the quotes). There is a space after ipconfig.
This will delete all DNS entries accumulated in the cache and maybe speed things up.
Also, delete files and cookies from your browser preferences.

Do a speed test at speedtest.net before and after the above steps and post the direct link. Maybe we all will get an idea if that helped.

About airltel, don't rely too much on what they advertise about the quality of their service, take a look at this,

    Default hey mateys

thanks dude ill try that: i think its wire or something: I dont get it: my speed used to be 100+kbps at night, and during day 50+kbps, now all of a sudden its so low and frequent on and off, like 1 minute its there, other minute its gone!
and when I asked the provider he said too many users and I asked if they have a better plan like Ill pay more if u give me higher speed, he said this is the best speed and no combo plans yet in gangtok (sikkim) from reliance, is this really the case, i dont know!
and one more thing ive done speed test for 3 days now, and its constant, upload speed say 40-kbps, it doesnt buzz, it is static at that point, u do test every min and it doesnt go even a point 1 up or down. I have no clue whats happening!

I really envy all you guys living in beautiful and pristine locations like Sikkim, Arunachal, etc., I have a word of advice, if your Internet connectivity is better than your mobile telephone network, be thankful for it. Things can only get better.

Edit: What i mean to say is given the difficult terrain, and the Central govt.'s step motherly treatment of those areas, if will be some time before infrastructure over there comes up to par.
