    Default Reliance Broadband best plan ?

    Location: Kolkata, West Bengal.

    Looking to switch to reliance BB from BSNL.

    I am currently using BSNL Home1000 but there has been a huge amount of latency fluctuation, packet loss, congestion and bad service over the last year.

    BSNL Home 1000 -
    average speed is 1.5-2Mbps
    Nighttime unlimited
    daytime download limited to 5gb (Rs. 7 penalty per 10mb after that)

    My budget is roughly under Rs. 1400 per month.

    Combo749, Combo1099 and NightboosterZoom1 seem like good options.

    I've also thought about using bsnl home500 for nightime usage (2mbps, unlimited, 2am-8am) and using a different isp during the day.

    I'm thinking of reliance because it doesn't have FUP like airtel and i've heard that the connection quality is better than bsnl.

    Does anyone have any advice on this matter ?
    Anyone else use reliance from kolkata ?

    Indeed Reliance network is better than BSNL in terms of latency,constant speed,speed in peak hours and too without any FUP so if Reliance BB is available then waste no time in switching to it i can assure you that once you get addicted to low latency and constant speed 24X7 you will hardly use another ISP!

    BEST is what you like, if someone say 2599 plan is best will you subscribe for it? so choose plan which satisfies your bandwidth needs.

    for normal Dls i suggest 749 combo plan which gives 600kbps in day and 1mbps in night.

    1099 plan which gives 1mbps

    1500 plan which gives 1mbps in day and 2 mbps in night

    if you are insane downloader then choose 2mbps flat fee plan which costs 2599!! though fat on wallet but if you aim to download 24x7 then its worth it.

    good thing is all these plans are without any FUP so download 24x7 and you get almost same upload speed so if you are aiming for torrents then look no further than Reliance.

    do you know if Reliance BB is good in Kolkata ?

    From what you said 749/1099 is what I will take.

    I will probably keep BSNL Home 1000 for a few months then if reliance turns out to be good switch to BSNL Home 500 + a better reliance plan.

    I can't Guarantee you that Reliance will turn "Good or Worse" in your locality, take BSNL for example in some areas its performing GOOD and in some areas its WORST, so rather being skeptical take reliance BB if it turns worse then you only loose rs 500 as installation if you are too curious then ask someone in your area who is using Reliance,since Reliance uses OpticFiber technology so the chances of "S*** happens" is far less than BSNL

    In terms of quality of the connection (packet loss, latency, disconnections, service outages, speeds, latency at peak times to foreign servers etc) - BSNL is the worst, airtel is a bit better and reliance bb is supposedly best.
    bsnl also has the worst customer support.

    In terms of pricing bsnl is the cheapest.

    airtel isn't really that good overall. It's quite expensive considering the service they offer. They also have "fair usage policy" - this basically means that you have a very limited download allowance, after which your download speed gets 1/4th.
    think about it : with bsnl when you go over the limit, you pay 70p per mb. with airtel when you go over the limit; your entire internet becomes effectively unusable.

    Airtel and BSNL tend to share routing as well (both use either tata/vsnl or bharti)

    Airtel salesmen are extremely pushy and typically full of bullshit (they tend to go and on evading questions about FUP and lying a lot).

    I wish kolkata had mtnl
    or a proper cable internet service.

    It's quite absurd that the entire world has moved over to cable internet and we are stuck with shitty DSL.

    thx for the clarification frnd. but nowadays even with pricing on unlimited bsnl is not the best.

    bsnl = Rs. 750/month @ 256kbps unlimited
    reliance = 450,650 etc @ 300-2mbps unlimited

    am i wrong ?
