Default Reliance not working on my Sony laptop with Windows 7

I have a Reliance wireline broadband at my office and works fine with Desktop having Windows XP and my HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. But when i try to connect it through Windows Vista nothing happens, the login page never comes and Network and sharing center shows limited access. Tried every troubleshooting which i know of.

Please if anybody can help me out. I mainly use desktop with reliance but was thinking to replace it with sony laptop but now I am stuck.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is this the generic problem with Windows 7. As my other friend also told me he faces problem with windows 7 on MTNL also. The Mobile detects wifi and browsing is happening but his Acer Laptop with Windows 7 cant connect even through ethernet( previously it was working but when he used internet on some other premises on wifi and returned back he was not abke to connect on his MTNL DNA-213)

Have you try inserting DNS and ipaddress provided by your ISP

if you want to know what ipaddress and dns you have to use, just power on your desktop or laptop which ever your are using for internet using Reliance

then open command prompt then enter the command "ipconfig /all"

this will display the ipaddress which you are using now and also the dns

now enter those ip and dns in your window7 then try using the same which you
do to login or configure for reliance.

NOTE :: primary ipaddress must be difference untill and unliss reliance is providing you static ip to connect to internet . If you are using one machine at a time to connect to internet then its ok if you have the same ipaddress and dns

    Hope this help you.

will try and let you know if it works. anyways thanks

What should i enter in IP address in IPv4 area. The reliance default gateway and ip settings change from one system to another. I have UTSTARCOM ADSL Modem UT-300R2. when i connect it to desltop with XP it shows some other gateway and system IP address and when connected to Windows 7 it shows some other gateway. How can i check modem login page. 192.168.1.1 doesn't works.

    for XP it comes 123.xxx.21.xxx
fow windows 7 123.xxx.16.xxx range and what does DHCP server IP means. ( id this means modem login IP or something else.)

    any help will be appreciated

And if manually enter IP details should i enter by looking at ipconfig/all then what woul be default gateway and that IP doesn't logins to the modem, so how can it work. ( actually it doesn't works)

    Hi!!!

The Modem Model no. that you told shows that it's having a RJ11 port for input & RJ45 for output now the question which arises in my mind is that do you have to dial any no. before getting connected to the internet or as soon you connect RJ45 with your XP desktop your system starts internet. If you dont need to Dial any no. then its on a Bridge mode & if you have to dial then it PPPoE ....If its in a PPPoE then you have to create a PPPoE connection by going to the Network & Sharing Center & then creating a new connection .....If its not a PPPoE then as told be the previous friend try checking out the IP address by going to the CMD and then typing ipconfig /all ....After you do these try to find out the default gateway...after you find that default gateway try to ping the default gateway...In order to ping click on start go to cmd then type "ping DefaultGateway Address" DefaultGateway Address have to be the same address which you will get by putting ipconfig /all in cmd . Just see if default Gateway pings or not & let me know.

Windows 7 is a very stable OS after XP & I am using Reliance Broadnet along with Windows 7 since it has been launched I don't think it's OS issue it's something related to setup. Nothing to do with the OS.

In my connection through XP when i open any browser a login page comes and same happens when its connected to vista OS laptop.

By the way its a OS issue might be i need to re install it. As my Sony with Windows 7 is not working with Airtel now at my home. Lan Connection is showing No internet access and same for Wifi also. When i try to open 192.168.1.1. through browser nothing happens and same with telnet command also.

Thanks all for replying but the issue was with the Antivirus program. after googling i came to know In windows 7 its a common problem when antivirus's Link scanning can block internet from starting and showing yellow icon with saying no internet access. the solution is to disable it in your antivirus. and restart the system.

Error in Windows 7: “No Internet Access” with Yellow Warning Icon

    Fixes:
Disable link scanning in antivirus/malware software The number one cause of this issue is problematic link scanning functions in various antivirus/malware software packages. Try disabling any link scanning components, then restart and check for Internet access.
