Thread: Problem with Reliance

Hello friends,

I am new to this forum. First of all I would like to say Hi to everyone.

I have a Reliance wired unlimited broadband plan. I was surprised to see that when I went into network places (using windows 7)..I could see around 15 different pc's listed. I could see that those pc's would just display up as if they were all in the same network as it would happen in case of pc's connect to each other in LAN with same workgroup.

Basically I dont need to assign any Ip in LAN. I have to set it up as take it automatically.

I can see that those pc's will randomly show up or disappear. It appears that when someone comes online, the machine names would display up.

Now this seems really a big security problem. If there is a strong network hacker anywhere within this network, I fear that he might be able to access any of the machines with ease!!!

When I called up reliance, it took them about half an hour to understand what was happening.

I understand that all these machines might be getting internet from a single machine and they might have got connected to the same network.

Is anyone facing similar problem? When I turn of the modem, it comes back to a single machine display..ie mine. Please help guys
