I just wanted to see how far this madness is going to go. In the earlier days as a "mod", I simply used to kill the topic and close such threads.

    My own summary:

It is all right to be a supporter of a particular ISP but not to the point of being blind about the drawbacks. That is plain fanatic behaviour. No doubt Reliance has good plans, no FUP, etc. But RCom claims that it has maximum reach? Come on now, please come back to the ground reality. Reliance does not even reach to 10% of the home ISP market. See here:

Market Share of 5 major ISPs as on Mar '10

Let us, for the sake of argument, agree that Reliance is the best ISP. A question begs here: What is the point if you cannot reach the subscribers?

Consider this example. I manufacture a car that yields 30 km/l, has the comforts of the Merc S-Class or BMW 7-series, cheapest of the lot, the best of the lot, etc. etc. But when it comes to sales, the following dialog happens:

Customer: Sir, I would like to buy this car.
Dealer: Very good, Sir. May I know where you live?
C: I live in Gurgaon, DLF Sector I.
D: Excellent. I will book your order. You should get delivery in a week.
Customer 2: Sir, I would like to buy this car.
Dealer: Very good, Sir. May I know where you live?
C2: I live in Karol Bagh.
D: Sorry, sir. Our car can only be seen on 8-lane expressways. Since you do not live near the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway or the Trans-Yamuna Expressway, I am unable to sell you the car.
Probably over simplified, overhyped and over the top. But get the gist?

The question remains: if reliance is so good why isn't everybody dumping their current ISP and moving to it?

Note that I am not even talking about customer service here. If Reliance-ADAG products are a measure of any of the services provided, then this is a no brainer.

However, if one is satisfied or even elated, then I say "Very nice for you. Enjoy.". But do not let this become a standard for comparison. Because there will be as many unsatisfied customers.

I received a Rep Point on the above post (# 105). Not the best post from my stable.

My sincere advice to all members and in partcicular to Sahil Kumar and Mickey (very freindly advice - read in neutral tone). Please do not start a thread war - life is too short and not worth the effort. This has only resulted in bad blood, a couple of more such threads, and banning a member.

With this I will close the thread.
