    Smile Router Inquiry.

    Hi everyone,

This is the first post of mine in this forum, though like a parasite I had been exploring hell lot of threads in past and rejoiced on a few wise thoughts.

    So the point is:-

I have a Wi-Max Reliance broadband unlimited connectivity of 1.5 MBPS speed. Its running on static IP and solely been used on one PC (Vista) with a direct line coming in to PC from the antenna, i.e. I dont have to login for net ever, its always on.

Recently I bought a Wi-Fi enabled Android based tablet (Toshiba Folio 100). And soon I realized that Android finds Ad-hoc connections a bit repulsive and choose to remain incompatible to them. I also figured out that I can root the device in order to make Android start liking Ad-hocs, but that was something that I didn't want to do as I've still some money left to buy a Router to do the job. And a bit more efficiently.

So my question is - Which Router (inexpensive) I should buy for a direct Reliance line of static IP that may be compatible to Vista and Android both at the same time (without any glitch)?

I'll appreciate if you'll be a bit more talkative than just stating the name of the router and an abrupt full stop. I would like to discuss rather than expecting a clearcut verdict.

If you chose MER mode, follow these steps…

    1. Enter the WAN IP Address for your ISP.
    2. Enter WAN Subnet Mask for your ISP.
    3. Enter VPI / VCI values.
    4. Click the radio button for the desired encapsulation mode: LLC/SNAP or VC Multiplexing.
    5. Network Settings: Be sure that options Enable NAPT and Enable DHCP remain selected.
