The initial high speed you see is just the burst and not the actual speed. I suggest you try downloading a large file using some download accelerator and see what the speed is like after a few mins.

When you start downloading a file you would see huge download speed which are of no use after some time they come down to there real download speed which is the real speed you get.

    Angry 750 UL Plan

Hey, I too have 750UL plan, but the download speed is between 20 kbps to 48kbps. It never increases beyond that point. Earlier, I had the 250 a month plan.I live in Goa, and Bsnl was just launched. When I had the 250 a month plan, I used it for online Gaming of Ragnarok Online I used it daily, and I never knew that my bill came to Rs 6000 for that month I play daily sumtimes 8 hours so because of that, my mother took 750+ unlimited plan. because of that, my download speed has decreased. I want an unlimited plan, upto 512kbps, but it is not there. So, Someone pls help

this is true, that u will get high-speed at first, and than the speed will get lessen gradually. recently i dont know any trick to mess around with, cuz we need a lots of knoledge about internet technology and how ISP works.
so i will advice you to forget about it. it will always work like this

no such high speed and nothing is fake too.. ... its just the initial burst as mentioned by many in this thread. what actually happens is this:

when you click on a download link - the open/save window comes up. you take some amount of time to mention the file destination and click the save button - in the meanwhile the download is has already started - this small amount of download already made is the reason why you see such huge speeds initially which gets balanced after a second or two.

In other words the downloads are being buffered and hence the rise in the download speed for a short duration of time in the beginning of the downloads..
