Default How to configure Binatone DT845W for reliance bb

    Hi,
I tried everything to make my binatone DT845W to be able to connect to internet. I have reliance broadband connection.
I am trying to setup a wifi but, with the Binatone router I am even not able to connect to internet by wire.
Is there anyone has the same router? How to configure it for reliance. Reliance technical department is not a use.

    Confirm:
    (a)
Your Reliance Broadband connection is landline based and you are using an ADSL modem ( mention make/model/number) supplied by Reliance.
    (b)
In Binatone there are 8 default VCO's 0 to 7. each with different
VPI/VCI for instance VCO2 can be 0 and 35 ( common to BSNL and Reliance)
Confirm VPI/VCI for Reliance BB connection.
    (c)
With Factory defaults , you can try a Dialer
and try to log in with ID/PW is system ( wanminiport )
if connected to internet then try wifi settings.
    (d)
If Binatone was earlier supplied by /used for Airtel FW
    may have to be changed.
    (e)
For actual working settings ( less wireless) for my BSNL
connection see screen shots here. ( similar 110TCI)

@essbebe: Thanks for the quick reply.
I could configure it this way and it worked. So I post it for others to be able to use as well.

    1. Reset the router. (There is a reset button in back of the router, hold it for 10 to 13 seconds using a pin. The router diods(lights in front panel) will go off except the Power; router will restart)

    2. open your browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1

    3. The pop up window asks for a username and a password. By default it is 'admin' for the username and 'password' for the password. (you can check the bottom of your router for the default username and password).

    4. When you logged in, on the top menu, select:
    interface setup -> Internet
5.look to the left side of the page and find 'ATM VC' section and find the 'virtual circuit' in its right.
select pvc1, when page is loaded, make its status(below of the 'virtual circuit') and make it deactive. now save your work by clicking the save button at the end of the page. Do the same for the rest except pvc0.

6.select pvc0, make sure that its status is set to 'activated'. If not select it.

    7. By default VPI is set to 1. Change it to 0.

    8. By default VCI is set to 32. Change it to 35.

    9. ATM QoS is UBR

    10. PCR should be 0 indicating UBR without PCR.

    11. Find 'Encapsulation' Section at the right of the page. In that section at its right, find 'ISP' and set it to 'Dynamic IP Address'. and let page to reload.

    12. At the 'Dynamic IP' section find 'Encapsulation' and set it to '1483 Bridged IP LLC'.

    13. You don't need to change anything more, just save your work.

    14. on the front panel of the router, the internet light should be on.

    15. now go to reliance login page. Worked?

There are not too much left to configure Binatone DT 845W and with a very easy steps I could configure the wifi. I explain it down.

    1. Make sure that activated is selected for 'Access point settings' section -> 'Access point'.
'Channel' set the channel to the country you live in. In my case, it is 'India'. and select 'Auto' from the box to its right.
In this section you don't need to change anything more and the default set up is well defined.(If you need let me know that I update the post.)

    2. In the section 'Multiple SSIDs Settings', select 1 for SSID number.(SSID is called as Service Set Identifier, and it is used to set up different types of network. If it is for home use, 1 SSID is sufficient.)

Set the 'SSID Index' to 1.

For 'Broadcast SSID' select 'Yes' is you want the name of your SSID to be visible to every one or set it to know, if you want it hidden. If it is hidden, then you require to input 'SSID' and the key(a kind of password) from the wireless network connection section of your operating system. I prefer it to be visible for the ease of work.

In 'SSID' box, you can type any name you like. This name will appear in your wireless connection list. For example I used 'WLAN' which is a short for Wireless Local Area Network.

Next in this section is 'Authentication Type' which is very important. Each one has its own protocol which makes the key/password secure from the hackers. For home users, select WPA2-PSK which stands for 'Wi-Fi Protected Access - Pre-Shared Key'. It is stronger than the rest excluding the enterprise.

    3. In section 'WPA-PSK' in the left side of the page, you can find 'Encryption' to its right. There are two types of encryption algorithms defined. TKIP and AES.
Some operating systems (Generally old versions of windows) has problem with AES encryption. But not TKIP. Select either of AES or TKIP. For example AES for me worked better and I know it is more secured than TKIP.

Below that 'Pre-Shared key' box is there. That is the place where you define a key i.e a password which you will use in your operating system to connect to the router. It should not be less than 8 character and should not exceed 63. (The instruction is given in the right-hand-side of the box)

    4. Find the section 'WDS Settings' and make sure that 'WDS Mode' to its right is set to off.

    5. Find the section 'Wireless MAC Address Filter' in the right hand side and make sure that 'Active' to its right is set to 'Deactivated'.

    6. Save the work, and your router will restart. If not, let the page reload and then, restart your router manually.

    7. Turn on your pc wifi, select the SSID you defined, Enter the key/password and press connect from your operating system wireless networks list.
You should be able to connect to internet with no problem.

Probably @RCOMcare did not notice, that you could do the settings for Binatone all by yourself, without any help from this forum too!!!
and was only posting instructions for other members benefit !!!

Smile Reliance Broadband - Wireless config support

    Hi Vahid,

Thank you for this thread. I was using airtel and switched to Reliance a week back (as i shifted residence where airtel did not cover). Since then i've been requesting the reliance customer care and technical support to configure my DT 845W. Finally yesterday they connected me to the technician who very rudely told me that the modem is airtel specific and will never work with Reliance or BSNL and if i intend to use this connection, i'll have to use it with the wired modem only.

In my desparation i was browsing through similar forums when i came acroos your thread and it worked like magic. All i had to do was to change the VCO settings as the rest was already in place.

    Thanks once more.

I think it's high time RCOM should take note of the customer concerns and pathetic tech support team they are employing.

    Thanks,
    S Dutta.

Glad that it worked for you. Yeah, you are right. Reliance Customer Care is very bad. They are so rude and no sense of responsibility. That's sad.

BTW, if the way you configured the router is different from mine, please leave a post. Might someone like us needs it.

    Beetel450TCI needs a RJ11 ( telephone cable ) input
    to function normally.
    The cable from Reliance ? is it Rj11 ? or RJ45 ?
Are you provided a telephone also ?

    Condition 1:
    Confirm this .
NO modem involved. Not supplied by R.
RJ45 cable direct from Reliance to your laptop ethernet port.
You are given a USERID/PW and log-in, in your Browser.
You have no control over this connection.
    No changes can be made.

    confirm.

    Dynamic IP address
Is this ALWAYS same for you enter in address bar to log in ?.

    feedback.

    Para two:
In old set up change Channel to 11 and disable Mac address filter.

Since you have Windows 7 download application Connectify
and instal in laptop. ( becomes an AP for other systems )
Check WIfi works in any other laptop/smartphone.
