Rep Power: 0 | Hello All I'm looking for VOIP Telephone Service in India, something exactly like Vonage do here in US. They just issue a phone set, phone number and VOIP adapter and thats it, all you need is broadband connection at home. I don't want a PC to be running like we have to using Skipe & Stanaphone, in short no PC based calling. All I should require is a broadband connection at my home. I would just hook up my VOIP adapter to my broadband and the phone will work like any regular phone. The catch is, if I buy a VOIP system here and hook the same adapter in India then I'll have a US working number in India. Now anyone from US can call this number just like a local number. Now, I want reverse of this. A Indian phone number working in US over VOIP so anyone in India can call me on that number. If you know of any such system existing in India, please reply. Any information is highly appreciatred. Regards Richerich |

Rep Power: 10 | There is no such service as the government of India doesn't allow virtual numbers yet. Will have to wait until the government decides otherwise. |

Rep Power: 2 | It is about time the government need to change the rules. They need to simplify the damn rules and let multi national companies operate freely in India. That will bring the price down by a huge amount. |

Rep Power: 0 | The telephone companies in India a scared that their income is going to be affected. They are clever and charge a lot to transfer the call from internet to the local telephone network. (Termination Charges) I believe that is the reason why it is difficult to get free calls or cheap calls to India like other Asian countries or the USA/Canada. Unless the Telecom Authority or the Govt puts pressure on the Telecoms, this situation is likely to continue. |
