I personally use the Linksys WRT54g wi-fi router to share my Reliance broadnet connection over the LAN...n i face no porblem at all..i use to share the broadband connection for my 2 Desktop(using RJ-45) n my Laptop(wi-fi) simultaneously..nebody who's using the same router may post a request if dey r indeed in nid of any kinda help...

As long as i hav bin sharing broadband(reliance broadnet) i find the weblogin page on one of the systems whicheva tries to access the net first...after havin logged in once frm any of the systems im able to surf the net from all the 3 systems simultaneously...to my knowledge this shud b happening with all kind of routers...since the work of a router is to create a firewall n also it has got the NAT ability which kips the LAN(over which the broadnet is shared) from direct visibility to the Reliance server...Reliance DHCP assigns the IP to the router which is den distributed by the router over the LAN...inshort..the DHCP of reliance sees the ROUTER (MAC address) acts as the sole computer which has got the actual Reliance Broadnet MODEM connected to...its totally unaware of the fact that the single connection is being shared over a LAN...
Morphis,
In the above message you said ur WRT54G works wonderfully with ur reliance. I am facing issues in these areas
1) I have multiple laptops. I can get only 1 laptop to work using my router
2) Even when i connect to one laptop using an RJ-45 and the other on in a wireless mode, I am able to login only on which ever logs in first.

Would be grateful if you can provide a step by step of setting up my linksys WRT54G. I am new to this world, so please bear with me.

Thanks
Ajay

1>The Router's Firmware Version......which can be seen if the router is turned upside down or on the box in which it came or in the status of ur routers homepage(which is by default 192.168.1.1)
2>The router settings that ur uing.

Hey i am facing issues acquiring IP for reliance wimax connection

In the morning when i switch on the system every thing works fine i am able to get ip with in few seconds but in the evening when i go home from office i am us able to get an IP even after keeping the system on for 3 hr

I had a batch script run 100 time ipconfig /release and renew no use

restarted the system several time

the signal strength is about 24 which i think is good

I had a question when ever i get an IP assigned to my computer what if i make a note of all the setting like the IP address , DNS etc and then when i dont get an IP if i use the same IP as static in the TCP/IP settings will it work?

Will i be able to communicate to the BS?

any body has any idea?

There are 2 components that reliance have provided one is the antenna and the POE connector

Are you tell me to restart the antenna?

If yes how do you do that

I can switch off the POE connector , shouldn't that restart the antenna as well?

Enter 192.168.1.1 in ur browser...hit enter
it will ask u for a username and password....type admin/admin
ull b next taken to the GUI of ur Antennae's Settings page...
on the left panel u would b able to see an option "REBOOT"...clik it
on the right hand screen dre wud b two options which r 2 b taken utmost care of...
1>Reboot
2>Reboot with factory default settings...

Cool 150/8 = 18.75...if it is so, try downloading dis n chkout the speed...

whereas, when u notice the download speed during any process of downloading, you see the speed in kBps (kilo bytes per second)

and 1byte = 8bits...

so u can calculate what download speed u should get with what plan...

for example...i'm on a 150kbps plan...so i get around 17-20kBps speed (150/8 = 18.75)
it's not that it is static...the speed sometimes reaches the 40kBps mark...but i get what i should atleast get...

i know the post may look stupid to many...may be the moderators and seniors too, as they are far more experienced.,..
but just thot of sharing the information here
Guys chk dis out...i guess dis would actually give a preety good info bout the Download speed dat one can get using one's respective usage plan...

Having logged in...go to http://reliancebroadband.co.in/home
In the menu select tools n try downloading the "MB COUNTER" (30.8 MB)....
On my 150 unlimited plan the transfer rate for dis file neva eva falls below 100...plz letme kno wht speeds u all r getting while downloading dis file...
I specifically mentioned the "MB COUNTER" because out of the three provided on the page, this one is having the biggest size...

TIA...

I checked the MB Counter file and i was getting speeds of 209 KB/sec
I am on 150 kbps speed
i think the file may be from some internal network and not internet, the reason for the high speed

Hey guys. I have a 2Mbps data transfer plan. Reliance promised me a least of 1600 Mbps speed. But all I receive is 300 kbps. Is this normal? I lodged a complaint, but nothing has been done so far.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure its max of 300 kbps and not kBps. Mostly I get 80 to 150 kbps which is intollerable. I had a 150 kbps plan earlier and used to get arnd 110 kbps bandwidth and arnd 15 kbps download speed. I use a wireless router. Is the speed loss anyway related?

Do not get confused between Kbps and KBps

If you have 2Mbps then the max download speed is 250 KBps
if you are getting 300 KBps then reliance is giving more than what you should be getting

for a 150 kbps connection you will get max download speed of 18 KBps

I have 150 plan and i get around 17 to 18 KBps which is quite good

please clearly mention what is the download speed in KBps and your plan in kbps

make sure you understand the B and b properly so that i can know what is the speed you are getting.

you post is not that clear

Thank you for replying. As I mentioned earlier, it is 300 kbps. For most of the times, its worse. I get only 80 to 150 kbps.

For 300 kbps you should be getting ont 35 KBps not 80 or 150 KBps

If you are getting 80 to 150 KBps for 300 kbps then there is some thing really good

if you are on a 2Mbps plan and you are getting 80 to 150 kBps then it is kind of average. for 2 Mbps you should get around 250 kBps

I've mentioned clearly enough. I have 2 Mbps plan. But the max speed I get is 300 kbps. At times it drops to 80, 150 kbps. thats too low. They promised me a speed of 1800 kbps. But I get one-sixth of what I had expected. Not half or 1/3rd. Can someone who had used Airtel and BSNL please tell me if they are any better? I would certainly change if possible.

ya my frnd is using BSNL Rs 500 limited plan.he gets free download time from 2 am to 8 am...and gets around 250 - 300 kbps of download speed. In day time the speed is around 95 - 100 kbps ( downloading)...this plan has also 2 gbs of free download limit....but u can opt. for a better plan to get more speed...but still bsnl is far better than stupid reliance....reliance is always ready 4 excuses ....airtel is also good..you can opt..for airtel is bsnl is not available in ur area..
