I am having speed issues. ^_^
yes I do have both speed and inflated bills problem.
Hi i had an Airtel connection and the router was working fine with no issues,I shifted and that when i got to know that there is no airtel here, so i went for Reliance Wimax, tried to reset the router it detects the ip as static and when its comes to configuring the network its gives an error that there is an issue with the Internet connection, tried all the possible steps by myself but in vain.
Atlast i called Reliance they are the worst Customer care i have ever dealt with, then i tried calling Netgear itself ,nogo there too.
I know that Wimax is a static ip address and it does not support PPPoE connectivity, but there has to be a way or workaround to configure the router to the Wimax settings, logically speaking.
As you have this connection for 2 yrs as you said, your inputs would be very much appreciated, also from anyone who has resolved this issue......PLZ HELP
Thanks in Advance

hi
I have got the reliance wimax connection recently. I bought linksys wireless router wrt54g2. I was able to configure the laptop using the start up CD. However to my dismay when i tried connecting the next day , it just did not connect. Can u pls pls pls help me with step by step confisguration as i do not want my Rs. 3000 going waste.
I hope somebody will be able to help.
Also we all Relaince Wimax users should group together and ask relaince to make sure we get tech guys who are competent at this
Reliance doesn't want to bother with internet sharing. They seem to be more concerned with developing this technology. The official statement is always "If you can get the wifi to work, you may use it"
So yeah, how to set it up?

Hi All,
After a long struggle of 6 months to setup Linksys router WRT54G with Reliance Wi-Max, the problem got resolved.
I had raised the call with Cisco help-line. The team tried their best to setup the router. But as they couldnt do much on it, requested me to lodge a call with them & request for the router replacement.
I had to get in touch with my dealer again who replaced the router with the new piece of WRT54G2. And to my surprise this router was just plug & play. No setups at all to make it work. Not even "Mac Address Clone".
Now I'm a happy customer of Linksys+Reliance Wi-Max for last 1+ month with absolutely no issues from both of Linksys & Reliance.
Cheers,
Guru
The MAC address clone is only to make things easier while setting up the router. If you ever unplug your router and connect your system directly do the internet, having the same MAC address will keep you from running into login problems caused due to the session being recorded against your router's MAC Address.
I'm glad that you got it to work.![]()
Hi guys,
I am having quite an issue setting up multiple laptops on my reliance broadnet connection, i have tried both the wired as well as wireless way. As per reliance Customer care i will have to get a new multi user connection.
Is there any way to hook up multiple laptops to my net connection without having to move to a multi-user account. I am currently using a Belkin wireless G router.
Thanks in advance.
Vineet
How have you hooked up your router. What are the issues you are facing? Need more details
Hi Vineet ,
I am using reliance broadnet on multi machines with out any issues , i m using WRT54G router. If u have one then lemme know i will guide u through the set up.
Hi man my question is der any Hub for reliance where things are shared over lan or its not there in reliance id pssbl how can dat be achieved to build a lHub over lan for local area
here's my first bit of advice. USE PUNCTUATION.
punctuation is your friend. It won't get you killed.
Secondly, setting up a lan hub after the reliance cpe should be as simple as it is to set up a wifi connection. Wifi internet is just a wireless lan network connected to the internet through some hardware. The networking settings are the same, except for the wifi settings stuff. My wifi router supports upto 4 wired lan connections.
Never faced any problem in my airtel broadband connection.
Nothing like u have to logout else u wont be able to get a DHCP address again etc etc.
hi
the thread , i must say is very comprehensive.
Ok the issue that i face is as follows
i have configured the router wrt54g2 as advised in ur thread, however when i try to reconnect to the net the next day after switching on the POE and the router i am not able to connect. I get so frustrated at times, that i was thinking of getting fixed IP from Reliance, but they charge 2000 bukcs a year so i dropped it. Pls help provide a resolution to this. I also have a norton internet security 2009 installed on my system. I use a vist home basic operating system
HMM.... Do you sign out from the reliance home page before you turn off the POE? Right now, I can only think about that as a possible problem.
I have a login script that runs in an html page that i run in a secondary browser that, on every startup, goes to the page, and hides itself in the background so that it doesn't come in the way, and can't be closed from the desktop or task bar. It's proved to be very effective in keeping my PC online for upto 2 weeks. (I had to reboot my system for windows updates after that) But the point is, it works.![]()

Hi,
I have D-link router behind reliance modem and I connect to Internet by login into reliance site and use internet.
Now, I want to keep my connection to internet even when my PC is not up and using just router. I know reliance does not support PPPoE or any other standard protocol.
Is this possible?
-Sam
Au contraire, cool_techie, its very possible. You need two things :
1) Flash your router to DD-wrt firmware. It's free linux based firmware that has been developed for many wifi routers. I've done the same on my dlink dir300 and my linksys wrt54g. it require a decent level of technical know-how. DD-wrt is one of the most popular custom firmwares out there, and google search will get you all the guides and info and the software required to set up the same.
2) Knowledge of linux commands. DD wrt being a linux based firmware, will support *nix commands. IF you are familliar with linux, you could program a cron job to keep you logged into reliance. I, however, do not know how do to this, or know anyone who knows linux well enough to do this, so I have not been able to set up the script.
Anyone who thinks they have a solution here is more than welcome to offer their suggestions.
DD-WRT is supported by a handful of routers only, isnt it? And highly improbably that the poster is using one of the routers which is already listed the DD-WRT database.
The complete list of routers supported by DD-WRT can be found in here.

Yes, I do have router running DD-WRT and Tomato firmware for other location but this router is old 514 and can't run it.
I guess, I am going to change my internet connection to some other ISP like BSNL.
do you guys know if BSNL or other ISP that you suggest can run PPPoE?
I don't need very high speed Internet. 100-250kbps connection is fine but I need unlimited one. I am planning to run some voice with ATA connected to d-link router.
Any suggestion on ISP and specific plan? I am in Surat, GJ.
Thanks,
U can opt for BSNL or Airtel. These ISPs provide pppoe service.
Use :: Airtel :: Broadband Services - Tariffs - For You to find the various plans of Airtel Broadband in gujarat.
BSNL tariffs can be found in here http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/dataone_tariff.htm
^^ Isnt this illegal? Please do not post such scripts it may result in misuse.
