    Default First n foremost of all....

    Instead of complaining dat Reliance BroadNet sucks...or whteva one must check it out wether he or she is getting the proper signal strength or not from the Reliance tower to which they r hooked on to...the below mentioned steps are also a solution for dose who are facing problem related to IP address and specially getting DHCP time out error...

    1. Remove the cable from Desktop / Laptop ( the cable which is connecting from your PoE device to comp)
    2. Switch off the power to PoE device ( by PoE i mean the modem supplied by reliance)
    3. Though there is no particular reason but I did that in this way so I recommend you too..restart your machine.
    4. go to start->settings->network connections (use right mouse button to open network connections)
    5. Locate the network connection you are using (mostly it would be named as Local Area Network)
    6. Connect the modem cable plugged out in step 1.
    7. Enable the LAN connection if disabled.
    8. Use the mouse right button on the connection icon, to go to properties->General tab -> select (internet protocol)TCP-IP.
    9 Go to the properties of TCP/IP.
    10. Under General tab use “use the following address” radio button.
    11. enter following ip address 192.168.1.2
    12. Try saying ok at the bottom, it would prompt for subnet mask, say ok again.. automatic entry of 255.255.255.0 would appear. Say Ok and close all dialog box.
    13. Open a command window ( go to start->run-> type cmd)
    14. type telenet 192.168.1.1 ( not that its not 1.2!!)
    15. enter login and password as support
    16. you would be in telnet shell.
    17. enter command ’sh bs’ ( with out ‘ )
    18. you would get one more line..though you would get the output in horizontal line but to demonstrate how it would looklike i am aligning the data in vertical:

    BS-Name bs2
    SectorId 00:00:00:00:00:00
    Frequency 3337000
    Bandwidth 3000
    Status -NA-
    DL-Cinr 0
    DL-Rssi 0
    DL-F -NA-
    ec NA

    > Please note that this is an example. you may get a different name of Base station.
    > This is the example out of situation when you ARE NOT GETTING ANY SIGNALS from any BS configured at your antena.

    If things are ok then you may get :

    BS-Name bs2
    SectorId 00:00:20:20:XX:00
    Frequenc 3337000
    Bandwidt 3000
    Status OPER
    DL-Cinr > 18
    DL-Rssi approx -70
    DL-F -NA-
    ec NA
    Ptx NA

    > Please note that following condition would define whether you are able to access broadband at all or with some degradation in service

    1. Status need to be OPER.
    2. DL-Cinr entry should be anything greater than 17. More the merrier
    3. DL-Rssi value should be negative. (Not sure about this one though, some one can correct!!) but i was told lesser its from -70, better it is.

    If you have status as NA then mostly your WiMax antenna needs re-alignment.

    If you are getting second set of value and still facing the problem try executing the command in following order ( on command window)

    1. ipconfig /all ( see what ip address its assigned, if its starting with 169.X.Y.Z then its not correct)
    2. ipconfig /release ( this will release the ipadress)
    3. ipconfig /renew ( this would try to get new ip address)

    Now if it shows OPER (operational) go to ur LAN settings again...reset the TCP/IP settings to " Obtain IP Address Automatically" also do da same for the DNS sever...having done dis...the connection wud request the DHCP server(of Reliance) for a Dynamic IP address to be assigned to u...now having got the IP address(it always is somthing like 124.125.226.xxx for Bangalore..rest of India is 124.125.xxx.xxx)...if u get dis den ur ready to take off for a smooth flight after having signed in with ur userid n password provided by reliance in the weblogin page which is reliancebroadband.co.in
    ....
    Most of u wonder y the reliance guys, the one who installed ur connection also even the customer care chaps kips on sayin to make sure that u logout urself from internet goin to same page(reliancebroadband.co.in) n hitting the LOGOUT button...
    But how many of us really do it?? do we?? Noooooooo....rite?

    Now let me explain the IMPORTANCE of having to do dat...
    How do we kno what Ip we r assigned with??
    1. By clickin on the LAN connection..
    2. START-->RUN-->CMD-->IPCONFIG or IPCONFIG /all
    rite??
    but hav u noticed one more thing?? dre r 2 more lines...
    LEASE OBTAINED
    LEASE EXPIRES
    Do we giv ne damn importancce to dese 2 lines??? No...y? bcoz most of us donot understand wht does dese 2 lines mean...
    At a first look we think it to b the Validity of our plans....
    But if noticed carefully its seen dat the time period between the lease obtained n lease expires is just a mere 24hrs...
    We think hows dat possible when we r paying the money for the plan chosen on a monthly validity basis...
    No its not possible it stands for somethin else...y to pet such headaches...lets carryon with our surfing...dats wht most of us think n surf...n just shutdown our computer(without logging out from the reliancebroadband.co.in page) thinking dat let it b logged in...so dat the nxt time whn i try to access the net, i may get in directly without having to face the login page again...but wht we find out to our dismay is...
    The next time when we switchon our computer, forget of gettin into surfing directly...a Yellow Triangle with a black exclamation mark highlights the LAN Indicator on the taskbar...
    The problem is dat...CANNOT GET THE IP ADDRESS(124.125.226.xxx) no matter how many times we click the repair button...

    MAN i must say dese 2 lines r the most important of all dat we can c n do in the network settings...
    Neva eva again shutdown ur computer without logginout from the internet thru the reliancebroadband.co.in page...the reason???....read on plz...

    The IP we r assigned is a Dynamic one...
    What does a Dynamic IP mean...is the question rite now in most of the newbees amngst us...
    DYNAMIC IPs r dose kinda IPs which kip on changing....some ISP's provide DYNAMIC IPs evrytime a user logs on..dese happens mostly in Dial Up connections...dese kind of DYNAMIC IPs exist for a single session of internet...
    Our ISP i.e. Reliance also provides DYNAMIC IPs...but dese r MULTISESSION IPs which means no matter how many times u login n logout and again login n logout within a CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME u'l b provided with dat particular IP only...
    THE 2 LINES...LEASE OBTAINED N LEASE EXPIRES is that CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME....let me make it more clear
    Suppose at 6 am u logged into reliancebroadband.co.in with ur user ID(which is UNIQUE for each RelianceBroadnet subscriber)...and u r assigned the IP address to be 124.125.226.150....
    Make a note that
    LEASE OBTAINED....:Friday, October 19, 2007 6:00:01 AM
    LEASE EXPIRES.......:Saturday, October 20, 2007 6:00:01 AM
    is displayed
    Dis means dat for 24hrs(frm 6AM friday to 6AM saturday) u wud b assigned that particular IP address no matter how many times u log in...
    Each session(i.e. for each LOGIN to its respective LOGOUT) is recorded in the reliance server SESSION DATABASE for ur account...
    Each SESSION detail is the most important thing for the reliance server to hav recorded to serve u with the same IP address the next time u try to login within dat particular LEASE time...
    Its same as like after having had ur breakfast u ought to hav it digested before u cud take in any for ur lunch...
    Dis is the reason y the Reliance guys kip on telling to logout after each surfing session...
    IF U FOLLOW THIS SIMPLE STEP MUCH OF UR IP RELATED PROBLEMS WILL GET SOLVED...
    Now u can chk it out that...after u have ur completed dat particular TIME LEASE(24hrs) for the IP 124.125.226.150...
    the next day whn u logon for the first time, suppose at 2pm...u'l again b assigned with a new IP address (eg: 124.125.226.80) which wud b valid for the next 24hrs...

    One more thing we must remember...that is...the MODEM dat is supplied by reliance shud not be Switched off between any running surfing session which may result in the same problem like da one mentioned above(Shuttin down ur computer without LOGGINOUT from reliancebroadband.co.in)
    For best results my advice to u all is dat u shud plug the power cable chord of the MODEM to ur UPS...as its the best way of preventing it from getting switched off during sudden power cuts(loadshedding)...if u hav it plugged it into ur UPS u can easily close(LOGOUT) the session and shut it down along with ur computer simultaneously without having to fear for IP rejection the next time u try to login....

    I HOPE FOLLOWING THE ABOVE STEPS WUD HELP SOLVE MUCH OF UR SURFING ISSUES....

    WUD B POSTING SOLUTIONS REGARDING WI-FI ISSUES SHORTLY....

    Default Sharing Reliance BroadNet i.e. configuring a wi-fi router...

    Most likely issues are the following...
    1. Problems being faced while setting up a Router
    2. Wud all the nodes nid 2 login thru the webpage login system...

    I personally use the Linksys WRT54g wi-fi router to share my Reliance broadnet connection over the LAN...n i face no porblem at all..i use to share the broadband connection for my 2 Desktop(using RJ-45) n my Laptop(wi-fi) simultaneously..nebody who's using the same router may post a request if dey r indeed in nid of any kinda help...

    As long as i hav bin sharing broadband(reliance broadnet) i find the weblogin page on one of the systems whicheva tries to access the net first...after havin logged in once frm any of the systems im able to surf the net from all the 3 systems simultaneously...to my knowledge this shud b happening with all kind of routers...since the work of a router is to create a firewall n also it has got the NAT ability which kips the LAN(over which the broadnet is shared) from direct visibility to the Reliance server...Reliance DHCP assigns the IP to the router which is den distributed by the router over the LAN...inshort..the DHCP of reliance sees the ROUTER (MAC address) acts as the sole computer which has got the actual Reliance Broadnet MODEM connected to...its totally unaware of the fact that the single connection is being shared over a LAN...

    Default I get logged out every few hours

    Hello,
    I have a reliance wimax connection with 2Mbps plan.
    The problem I am trying to find a solution to is as follows:
    I want to be online all the time for my work, but after every 5-6 hours, I get logged out. Although the IP address remains the same, I have to go to the This Domain is registered with net4domains and then login again.
    Has anyone found a way to fix this, Once I login I would like to be online for atleast say 10-12 hrs unless I logout on my own.
    Please post suggestions

    Mr Sharma im afraid dat u cant get ne help regarding ur above mentioned problem since Reliance has got a fixed time limit...here in dis forum u'l find som sayin dat running specific scripts helps u in gettin urself logged in permanently until n unless u urself log urself out...but im afraid no such scripts are true...in short dese scripts dont work out...

    Even after being in Sillicon valley , we dont have any good broadband,
    airtel and BSNL are OK, but its damn difficult to get connection of both.

    Default lease time is for 2hrs

    hi friends,
    i am facing worst problem for every 2hrs leased time expires. i have to run command "cmd /c ipconfig/renew" every 2hrs for renewing ip address automatically, today the leased time is only 8 min.i am getting headache, how to solve my problem and now at present there is no ip address assaigned automatically.dhcp server is down it seems. i call r-care they said there is problem country wide , wait for 7 pm , but its now 30 min past 7pm. but no conectivity ,do anyone are facing same problem .

    Morphis, Can u share the information of setting up the linksys router. I tried setting it up using the cd but sometime I was able to connect to use the net and the wireless is still not working.

    While setting up the Linksys Router using the Setup CD, a while later the router will prompt for access to the Internet. You have to first connect your system to the internet before setting up LAN n Broadband sharing using the linksys router. After you have your Linksys router attached to your NIC n the Wi-max RJ45 plugged into ur Router open up ur Browser n kip trying to connect to the internet, at some point of time u'l find the reliancebroadband.co.in page popping up...hit ur username n password n login, now u'l b connected to the internet, after having done this go back to the Router setup page n continue, i hope dis helps...in my case dis helped me, n also remember the following things during ur router setup:-
    1> INTERNET CONNECTION TYPE---> AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION-DHCP
    2> ROUTER IP---->192.168.1.1(default)
    3> NETWORK ADDRESS SERVER SETTINGS---> DHCP-->ENABLE

    BASIC WIRELESS SETTINGS--->
    1>Wireless Network Mode--->MIXED
    2>Wireless Network Name (SSID): Nething of ur choice like ur name
    3>Wireless Channel: 11-2.462GHZ
    4>Wireless SSID Broadcast:its ur choice

    I hope dis helps, if it does not, reply me bak i'l surely tell u some other options which im sure will help u get out of dis problem

    Default still my problem with reliance connection not solved

    Dude the scne is i use wimax..firstly i dont have any modem..the connetcion comes directly from the antenna placed on my terrace..i just have an adaptor for giving it the power..if i then attach the ethernet cable to my desktop it connects to the net very easily and works very efficiently..i really like the way it works ..no complains..now the problem arises from the fact that when i want to connect the router as i want use wifi connection also for my laptop.

    i use a linksys wireless-N broadband router (model WRT300N V1).Now when i connect the Reliance ethernet cable in the internet port behind my router..connect my router through an extra ethernet cable i have... to my pc..and then connect the router through my browser..(192.168.1.1..my or generally all router ip's)change the settings under the basic setup tab from static to automatic dhcp save the settings and then shut my browser..restart my comp..and then when i come to my browser the reliance broadnet loggin page appears ..which means my router is taking the ip properly (may b, this is what i think)but when i enter the user id and password ..it says "authentication failed"...now when i unplug the reliance cable which is in my router and put it in my pc directly as it was before,then the same login page appears ..and after entering my password and id ..it connects and there r no issuses... tried calli reliance..asked them to reset my password..didnt work ..still was gettin "authentication failed". also there r no problems in my router ..works properly at my office.. jus dont know wht the problem could be?
    could help any further?

    Also i forgot to mention that during my settings of the router i set the basic ip settings to automatic and manually enter the 3 dns servers below which i got from command promt (cmd) and ipconfig/all .also i use vista home premium..so i have ip settings as ipv6 and ipv4 ...and ipv4 is the one to be used..pl help dude..really want to hook this up dam badly

    I must admit dat ur r using a preety good router available in the market today, ok now coming to the main point....u hav configured ur router but not appropriately, just do the following couple of alterations to wht u hav configured...

    1) Map ur router MAC address with ur DESKTOP MAC address

    2) Donot manually configure the DNS servers, let the ROUTER do it

    Im pretty sure the above alterations wud surely solve ur problem...

    I have Reliance connection in pune Ghorpodi area.

    MY lan cable when connected doesnt transfer any signal and message is displayed that the lan cable unplugged.

    I have tried to get the problem rectified by calling call centre and he even traced the service guy in my locality in pune but they didnt bother. It seems i have to correct the problem myself.

    I have a new connection and on 900 plan of unlimited download.

    Need help.

    I got i problem with Reliance Broadband

    Is it TRUE that 64Kbps plan DOWNLODING Speed is just 6 to 10 Kbps every time 24Hours a day its Just the SAME

    I there any SOLUTION for this thing ??????

    BUT ITS TOO GOOD

    Day time i Get 6 to 10 Kbps DOWNLODING Speed

    And at night after 9:00 PM

    I get DOWNLODING upto 20 to 25 Kbps

    This Speed remains same till Morinig 9:00 AM

    Mr. Himangshu, im sorry i dint get ur problem, dis thread is about Reliance Wimax n not for Home LANs, if its bout ur LAN den i must say even Reliance will not come to ur help...if its with ur WiMAX dat ur facing probs i request u 2 b more specific about it....

    Dude im sorry 2 say "YES DATS IT"...if u wanna increase ur download speed frm 10kbps to wht u dream of....loosen up ur pocket....go for some Bigger SPEED PACKS....

    For a connection of 64 kbps i would say that you are getting right speed as these speeds are not 1:1. This means that you would get maximum of 64 kbps and this does not mean that if you have 64 kbps connection you would get 64 static.

    i took the reliance wimax connection, it was working fine for me. all of sudden the system not getting started( booting ), i did trouble shoot in safemode, its showing some eathernet problem, contact administrator to configure DHCP. when i disable network card, i am able to boot the system.
    same time its a dual boot system, i am browsing in linux, there is no problem at all in linux.
