Thread: Reliance Broadband not able to connect to multiple devices using airport extreme

Hi,

I have read a number of threads about this and tried a couple of things but in vain. I am hoping someone would be help here.
I have a ADSL+PPPoE reliance broadband modem, which has a single LAN jack.
I have connected my APPLE's wireless router AIRPORT EXTREME to the same but then also I am able to connect only one device/laptop.
I have tried the suggestions in other similar posts about PPPoE and copying mac address and chaing settings on 192.168.1.1 but nothing works for me.
I would appreciate if some one could help and even better if someone could provide screen shots for airport extreme settings.

In Reliance modem ( ZTE831AIi?) select PPPoE and enter your ID/PW
In LAN page Enable DHCP. give a range.
If Upnp is seen enable this buutton also ( may not be available in some modems )
Confirm you get connected to Internet automatically.
In Airport

connect Rj45 from computer end to WAN port of Airport.
Select Dynamic IP or auto dhcp.
DNS etc auto select.
Wif page as usual.
do you get connected in wifi mode.?

1. The reliance modem is UT300R2
2. I am not able to open page 192.168.1.1 which is for modem settings as you had suggested in other posts, so not sure where to change settings.
3. I did not get your point about connecting WAN of router to laptop. Isn't the WAN port for connecting :LAN cable from modem to router (airport extereme)
4. My issue is not able to connect wirelessly to internet using my router. That I am able to do but like I mentioned only one laptop, since reliance asks for login and password on reliancebroadband.co.in page. Issue is I am not able to connect my other laptops to the internet although they connect to my wireless network (created by airport extreme)

I hope this provides a clearer picture from end for you to give me further pointers.

Obvious a RJ45 cable is to be connected to computer ethernet port.!!!
to get connected to Internet.

Ok. As you say,you are right.
connect from Airport LAN1 another RJ45 to computer LAN port
Can you connect to Internet? Log in if required.
Download "connectify" and install in above laptop.
Try the other laptop/phone etc.in wifi mode.

The link that you provided Current IP Check .....just returns my current ip address and nothing more

The Connectify was dangerous man.....its some kind of malware or something
As soon as I downloaded and installed it.....my machine almost crashed.
I switched my laptop off immediately and restarted in safe mode and recovered
but back to square one as of now on the multiple device issue :-(

Connectify works fine on my Windows 7.

There is another way to share the Reliance Broadband among two computers

See, the first issue you have to solve, is to access the web interface of the modem by typing 192.168.1.1 on your browser. Set the default gateway IP (on your LAN Card properties) as 192.168.1.1 (keep the first IP as 192.168.1.2 and subnet mask will fill by itself).

Once you are able to access it, change the connection mode from bridged to dynamic IP. Enable NAT on the interface too. That is all. You can then share the connection among any number of PCs.

This is the outline of what is to be done. The exact steps may vary from modem to modem. If you had a Binatone DT815 modem, I could have helped you out with the exact steps. I am using this modem with my reliance BB connection and can share the connection to four PCs located in my premises.

So, for now just concentrate on accessing the web interface of the modem. Initially, when they provided me with the connection, I too could not access it until I set the IP address of the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 on the LAN Card properties.

@[cool_techie_tvm]: I also have the same modem with my new reliance broadband connection and I am not able to connect more than 1 system at a time. Can you please guide me through so that I can connect more than 1 system.
