Default Please advice a Reliance wifi router

    Hi,

I have the Reliance Broadband, wired (Thunder 1099) with 4Mbps plan. I'm planning to buy a reasonable router so that I can connect my desktop, laptops and mobile using wireless.

Could you please share the router name which is known to work correctly. My requirements are:
    1. desktop (using LAN)
    2. laptop - wireless
    3. Mobile - wireless
    4. signal strength of at least 15- 20 metres.

If possible, could you also share the step by step instruction on how to configure & connect it.

    Thanks,

    Rajeev

    Hi, rajeev

many routers available at this time with lots of features, for your requirements only basic router needed.

visit filpkart or another sites for router reviews.

Personally I used ASUS RT-N13U B1 router for download torrents when my PC turned off. it works amazing with my reliance 2Mbps ( thunder 699 ). visit kczon, com for my router 24x7 torrent downloading review

    Hello,

    Rajeev

I never faced any major problem with router and it work amazing.

If you interested in Download torrent 24x7 when your PC turn off or 3G sharing than this is best router at low price for you.

Note : torrent download not work with 3g dongle

For 3G sharing i used stock firmware and now i have reliance broadband so i flashed DD-WRT firmware and install transmission 2.73 for torrent downloading.

Installing of DD-WRT on router is very easy if you have little knowledge of Linux, Command Line and telnet.

    Hi Jhalak,

I'm not going to use this router to download torrents while my computers are switched off. I'm mainly interested in a Router which can enable wifi from the Reliance Broadband. It should have decent range and work well.

Regarding, DD-WRT: Does the flashing increase the speed of Wi fi network? What are the advantages? Could you please tell me. That would help me in deciding a good Router. If you have any other suggestion about a Router please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Rajeev

    Hi, Rajeev

If you not interested in use router as download server than nothing extra special in asus rt-n13u b1, also router launched around 2 years ago. so i would suggest you buy another latest router like WD My Net N600 Router

DD-WRT is a open-source linux firmware which supports many routers, DD-WRT mostly not increase speed of router but it has a many customization.

    Hi Jhalak,

Thanks again for responding. Yes, I don't need any special features for the router, just want it to enable the wifi and have good speed. I'm looking for something like around Rs. 2000-3000 range. Do you have any suggestions for the router that fit into my budget. I'm planning to buy it tomorrow (Saturday). Please could you suggest.

    Thanks,

    Rajeev

    Hi Jhalak,

Thanks a lot for your help.

I went ahead and bought the TP-LINK TL-WR941ND router. It costs 2700 in Chandni, Kolkata.

So far it is giving good signal strength. I configured the router using the CD provided. I heard about DD-WRT from you. How should I install this, do you have any tutorial?

    Thanks,

    Rajeev

    Hello Rajeev,

If stock firmware is stable and good enough than dd-wrt firmware does not very helpful for you. stock firmware is always better than dd-wrt for stability.

check extra features and advantage of dd-wrt firmware over stock firmware for your router because dd-wrt features and installation different on your specific router.

dd-wrt typically has features that the manufacturer's firmware does not supports. so if you required this extra features than install it.

Installation process is not easy it may brick your router.

i only installed it because i like linux and i used android and ubuntu both are based on linux.
