upload bandwidht plays a big part in your ability to browse... when you click on a link to view a webpage information is sent out and if you dont have enought bandwidht to send out that request you mostly get page can not be displayed errors. Many sites like hotmail and gmail require that login info be sent upsteam to the servers and due to low upload bandwidth sometimes logins fail. I cant play games online and many times have a tough time sigining in to messenger services and email apps. Not much of my work gets done from home these days as I cant send out mails... I am unable to login to several banking sites as they are secure and have page time outs for sending my login credentials. Bottom line is that without decent upload bandwidth the net isn't just 50% effected but a lot more.
As far as I am aware.. TRAI regulates that ISPs should provide atleast 80% of advertized bandwidth. right now speed test indicate close to 2 -4 Kbps for my 600K connection. As per the Reliance website they claim that the offered upload bandwidth offered is close to the download bandwidth or 256kbps whichever is lesser.. More soon...

ganesh do u have the phone number or the tech head in bangalore? The call centre assholes told me today that the prob is in bangalore and they are working on it.. F*** 50+ days and still unsolved,, i think they just throttling the UL bandwidth cos tracert's go thru easy.. I went down to the local web world, those aholes say that Wimax is not part of them... strange cos they know how to sell a Wimax connection and accept bill payments... but do not listen to your problems

Regarding throttling i think it seems to be a pattern.. 2 of my neighbours have taken Broadnet a month back.. 1 of them downloads/uploads a lotta data.. 1.5+GB a day.. his UL too is a big 0 now.. but the other guy's connection is working fine..

I asked him to log in to the net from my comp and guess wht.. UL worked perfectly.. 39kBps for his 300kbps connection.. i used it for 10min UL about 20mb.. and just after i Uled 20mb of data UL speed dropped to 0.5kBps.. same as wht i get. When going back to his comp n testing it.. UL is back @ 40kBps.. DL is avg around 37kBps..

Check that document out and let me know if anyone can make sense of it. Does it make us eligible for 100% refund?

Points II, V, VII, VIII are valid in our case..

Someone was asking me about throttling..

IMO: Reliance is resorting to what is known in telecom industry as underprovisioning..

In layman terms they are selling 100 tickets for a bus with capacity for 50 and pushing all 100 into the same bus. All/most of the passengers choke (similar to the way Irish died in the ships on the way to US during Potato Famine).

Reliance guys must have provisioned way too many connections on a small pipe..

Let's say there is another bus operator (called Airtel or BSNL) who pushes 60 into a bus with a capacity of 50 and maintains 1:1 ratio on Luxury services, then Reliance too will add additional buses.. Till that time.. let's just pour out our hearts on this forum..

Right now most Wimax subscribers are like those hapless passengers.. They call it TINA factor - There Is No Alternative.. :-(

I did shoot off a mail to the Nodal officer bangalore. I know it has been done before but lets hope for a positive response. Lets all send a mail to the officer today.. hopefully they may notice that there are many of us who have sent it together..
The nodal officer for bangalore is -
Ms. Lakshmi V
email:Rcomnodalofficer.Karnataka@relianceada.com
add:Reliance Communications Limited, RCOM House, 3rd Floor, B Block, Hessarghatta, 8TH Mile Stone, T. Dasarahalli, Peenya, Bangalore.
phone:080-30332676 / 080-30332620

Why dont we all send out a mail today with a list of complaint numbers and bombard them with calls tomorrow. We dont have anything to lose.. let this be like the last shot..
