Thumbs down Vishal.. & Cruisecontrol

Vishal, I too know that you can change the BS options thru the web explorer using 192.168.1.1 - Scanner option.

But, all the options there are disabled. I was discussing this with Raghu (Cruiser), who seems to be aware of this. Request Raghu to throw some lights on this please. Tell us the procedure to do so.

Or u can also send that to my mail id. i can share with others with their mail id.

Thumbs down Pankaj

Hi Pankaj, I doubt if you arent getting any signals from other BS. I used to get signals in 4 BS. last week during a complaint, someone changed the settings and i could see signal only in one BS, others were not receiving signal at all. Since it was very poor, i called the reliance guys and had a fight to claim that the earlier setup had good signal and how come the settings were changed. I was told that it could have been done by the server team.

So, i guess, these settings can be changed at the server end. And some people have access to change the BS as Vishal has commented on this forum and some ppl like us dont have access to change them and some ppl dont have any other BS connected other than only one.

And FYI, its the sector which are different in BS1, BS2, BS3 or any other BS. when you talk to technical guys or the customer care, mention that the sector you are attached is not fetching good signal.

Yes Pankaj, It seems that there is only one base station near to you, it all depends on locality. I checked other forums also, their are several 100 users who are suffering this problem and their will be many who is suffering but they dont' know. Well, let us all hope and pray that incumbent reliance engineers fix this problem for all, forever.

Default Login Procedure

Just for the benefit of those, who may have 2 base stations near to them, here is procedure:-
1. Logoff frm connection.
2. Change IP address of LAN connection to 192.168.1.2, leave subnet mask and gateway to default settings.
3. Open ur browser (IE/Mozilla) and type 192.168.1.1
4. It will open Telsima starmax 2100 settings page and ask for login,
Login: support
Password: support
5. Go to scanner channel tab and select any other good bs (cinr > 16) and remove all others.
6. Allow it to sync with BS for couple of minutes.
7. Logoff from Telsima.
8. Change IP Address settings back to Auto.
9. You must get IP Address from reliance.
10. Log in to reliance broadband again and check if you can upload now.

I wanted to attach screenshots here but forum rules dont allow a size greater than 97kb for jpeg files :-(
uploaded a couple of snapshots to picasa before and after changing base station for your refrence, link is:-

Vikas,

That is very detailed.. thanks..

For those in KR Puram area (where I live), suddenly all my BS except one (BS4) have disappeared. When I checked with a techie at Reliance he told that they have upgraded their provisioning system and only one working BS would be shown in your config. Even if you change your startupconfig file, their provisioning system changes this at regular intervals (i.e. overwrites your config). Another problem in this area is that there are frequent power outages and hence your POE and thereby Modem restart frequently refreshing your config.

If anyone in this area has details of other BS, pl. post here. We can add them manually and experiment.

Also pl. note that the firmware in some Modems was updated remotely by Reliance. Telnet server may not accept support/support as credentials (though the same is valid for the web interface). The new update uses admin/admin as credentials for telnet.

Other updates are that Linux and Router DHCP client requests will not be served by their DHCP servers (if your router/Linux box gets it, that may be due to some bug in their DHCP rules :-). Which means in most cases only Windows boxes will get IP address and your investment in the wireless router is a waste.

Thanks Vishal and Ganesh.
I checked again and did as you suggested (removed all the base stations except one and tried connecting it but in vain.
I do think there is only one base station in my locality.

Ganesh, do you want me to mail my details (subscriber id etc) as you pursuing it with reliance guys? I haven't filed any complaint though as of yet.

Let me know what you want me to do.

Panakj
