How much do they charge us for a static IP?Does it really reduce the IP resolving time? And any improvement in terms of speed? Thanks

Thumbs down Bad News / Good news

All,

Today i got a call from the tech team agreeing that this upload problem is being faced by many across cities. And they are unable to get to the roots yet. I was also informed that a designated team is already working on this problem. But until the problem is resolved, this will be on stake.

Good news is we can claim compensation for the period of the problem. So, if u get the bill, call up the Cust.Care immdly and claim for compensation quoting the problem, date & ticket number if you have for reference.

For once, after a long time, the technical support guy was able to explain and appreciate the whole problem along with his updates too.

hey, the static IP is not resolving the problem. Everytime we have been trying out new things, its proving to be wrong. So, changing antenna, changing MAC, changing BS or switching to static IP doesnt solve the issue at all.

As of now, static IP has been provided to me freely. And if to my surprise i get a bill, i am going to claim it back. I will not be paying ever. Moreover, i am gonna claim for a compensation for this problem for this months bill and the last months'.

lets see.. BTW, i am collecting the groups subscriber id, address, mail id and contact number of people who are facing similar problems. I dont seem to have taken your information. if you dont mind please provide the details. you can send them to gpganesh@gmail.com

Hi All,

Got a surprise call from Tech team from Mumbai. Amit was the techy name. he claimed that this prblm is persistent across the country and a senior level team is designated to work on this. Yet, they are unable to locate the root cause and sort it out. He was explaining more terms technically which were little familiar to me. He was talking about latency time that is getting expired for any upload requests from our side. So this is basically to do with the server end which has to work upon latency time issues. Now, i dont know more technical issues on this front. "Cruise control" shld throw lights on this.

He finally told me that bills are not being sent to customers who are facing this issue. And in case its surprising that a bill comes to you, claim for compensation and keep this forum posted about it. Meanwhile, bear with this issue and enjoy browsing except upload.

Keep calling the Customer care to find out if there are any updates. This is just to keep them on track that your complaint is still open and being addressed by a larger group at senior level.

Regarding resolution on this issue............. God only knows. We have no other option other than waiting.

Ganesh:
Sorry, I couldn't check my mails over the weekend. Will call you today.

Info you provided is interesting.. BTW: Did Amit use the term Latency or TTL (Time To Live)?

I still suspect that they underprovisioned infrastructure (or upstream BW) - in other words, they do not have enough capacity of network gear to support the number of Wimax connections. Underprovisioning is a common problem with many companies where marketing teams don't understand engineering issues and plan to ramp up capacity once they get enough number of subscribers. Reliance Wimax biz folks must have under-estimated the demand and growth.

Default BTW: Another finding..

Not that it is of great use.. But I suspect latency alone is not the issue..

I observed that extremely small mails were going.. e.g. subject "test mail" and content too is "test mail"..

Similarly when we use a mail client to access mail, we never fail to get mails (i.e. authentication and POP/IMAP handshake are always successful - it is because the these handshakes requires very small messages).

So, I tried ping with different buffer sizes with 'no fragmentation' option. With smaller buffer sizes the loss is ~1% (and avg round trip time is 100ms) and with buffer sizes above 64 bytes loss shoots up to 100%.. The machine I pinged was reliance DNS server.

Just a thought.. If its not the antennae, MAC, IP or our login IDs what is the commonality for the issue? Is every one in India having this issue of low upload bandwidth? If its just us then why only us? If they can figure out what all of us that are facing the issue have in common then they only have to fix that. As far as I can tell its not even the rate plan that we are on as many of us are from different plans.... any thoughts?

Something to do at the server end.... FOR SURE.

BIG TIME, these guys resolve this. Its really a challenge to the network community of reliance broadnet.

Rather its a shame on such service, incompetent enough to handle thse kind of problems and moreover for so long........ 50 days......................

RELIANCE BROADNET SHOULD WITNESS THIS AND RECORD THIS FAILURE IN THEIR BOOKS.
