Ganesh, Disconnecting the BS wont help. You need to remove the BS that you don't want to connect to. Then Select the BS you want and it may go into a scanning mode again. Let the Scan complete (it may take a while) and once done connect to the BS you want. If it latches on to a third BS that you didn't want to connect to you may have to remove that as well and try connecting to the BS you want again.
Mostly for me I have to do this process till only 2 BSs are left. The one I want to connect to and another without any significant signal.

as an after thought.. if you want all your BSs back after you remove them you could do a simple reboot. once the reboot is done it will Scan again and you will reacquire all BSs

    Thumbs down Confusin structure...

From a tech call today, i understand that a couple of BS has been improved with more capacity. And thats y there is some improvement in the U/L speed.

Anyone .... lemme understand this concept of BS. is this available in every tower? or there are few BS in bangalore to which all of us are connected thru the towers.. i dont understand the physical structure of the network...

Ganesh, you are so lucky that someone from Reliance Tech team calls you so frequently.. Looks like I am an untouchable.. Except that Tea Boy Rajni i.e. Muthu no one bothered to call me.. even after filing ~20 tickets in a month!!

Looks like I am an untouchable :-(

That's it! I am starting a Bengaluru Sangraahaka Rakshana Vedike and am filing a case under 295A!! for hurting my sentiments !! :-)

A BS is nothing more than a tower. Some of us have 1 or more that are functional in our vicinity. Some unfortunates have only one in range so if it goes down you have no way of connecting till its back up again.

Thanks Sandheep for the help....but once I changed my IP to 192.168.1.2 and logged into http://192.168.1.1, it brings up a login page that I cannot log into...I have tried with the user name and password provided for Reliance Wimax....

    Thumbs down All

I got a call from the local marketing team. They wanted all our details to take up the matter.

Got another update that there is some backend problem esp in KR Puram, Marathahalli area which is expected to resolve before 15th. Once again false hopes that our upload problem shld get solved by after that.

Anyways, request all of you not to pay bills and raise waiver. Float those requests looping me also into it. My id gpganesh@gmail.com

    Default About me.. :-(

Currently I am a hapless Reliance Wimax subscriber.. living in a remote backward village called Nekkundi some 1500 'meters' north of Marathahalli and my Reliance BS co-ordinates are BS4, C1, C2, C3 :-(

I faintly remember that In my previous incarnation I worked with telecom industry though..

That’s interesting.. Until a week ago I had access to BS4 and for now have C1 C3 and C4 we must be sharing some towers then.
Are you able to get the DHCP to assign you an IP when you are connected to C3? C1 and C3 are my strongest towers. I am in RT nagar.. near Ambedkar Medical College

    Thumbs down Structure?

I still have my doubts about the structure of BS and towers...

Is it something like there are lot of towers thru which we connect to BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4, C1, C2, C3, C4...... and these BS & C are servers which processes our requests......

I need some insight Cruise... as you have the flavour of this kind of a network, pls throw some lights to understnad.

not to offend you Sandeep, i still feel that each tower cannot be a BS....

No offence taken. The only reason I consider BSs towers is because what we see in the antennae set up page is the signal strength. (those Green bars we are hoping to get) so its more like these are signals that we are trying to pick up and select the best signal based on its strength and of course the BS's ability to assign us an IP. If it were just a sever we would only connect to one tower (whatever the signal strength) and chose which ever server offered the least congestion.

    Sandeep,

I was able to get IP through base station C3. But that doesn't solve the problem..

    Ganesh,

A base station is an equipment that has a transmitter and receiver. e.g. Your wifi router is a base station (and more) and the wifi adapter (invisible if you are using a wifi enabled laptop) acts similar to the Telsima equipment we use. Any tower (is just an elevated structure) can have different kinds of base stations, repeaters etc. and Wimax is just one of them. Not all Reliance towers need to have Wimax base stations. I am able to see 4 base stations around me.

BTW: I am not a networking 'expert' :-)

Default Fairgame: Pl. see Sandheep's and my previous posts on waivers..

You need to call them and get a waiver..

If you don't have proofs that the complaint was not resolved within 15 days you can't demand complete waiver.

Even Reliance Revenue Assurance folks know about the Wimax service disruption but they want to still take money from people who meekly pay or who just don't know their rights.

Forget about the rights of consumers, Reliance has a statutory obligation to give waiver on their own.. But in this lawless country who has guts to audit Reliance's Service Levels?

So, it is the consumers' job to demand/beg waivers (whatever suits you :-).

Another thing I have done is sent a mail to their Customer service team. They have raised a ticket for the waiver and emailed me the ticket number committing to work on it. Blah Blah Blah!
This way I have documented proof of the ticket with date stamps and all.

    Default Solution???

ok guys i think i might have found the prbolem.... (at least for me)

i'm still working on it (doing R & D thing).

    will keep u updated.

ps: i request you all to post Modulation type.i.e.,
in telnet mode when we do ;sh bs; look for the variable under DL-Fec and post it here (will be something like qam or bpsk etc, will help me know about you problems). also post Rssi & Cinr details

hint: higher moulation connectivity (high speed) together brings higher error rates (good downloads, but erroroneus uploads) , lower speed modulation like bpsk 1/2 will bring stability and greater user experince at the cost of some speed.

Guys, for some reason I am unable to Login to the Telnet session with support/support credentials.
But the browser login works fine with this UN and PW. What could be the problem?
Has the NU PW changed for Telnet?
