Default Connetivity Problem with WRT54G Router

    Hi m0rphis,

I have tried using WRT54G Router on windows-XP platform after configuring it as follows...
Step 1: from command promp, open web setup page by typing http://192.168.1.1 ---- Working Properly
Step2. On the setup page, setup is made for DHCP(off-course this is the default settings with the setup page) and the save the page.
Step3: Changed the default IP to 192.168.2.1 and then release and renew the IP from cmd promt. I had tried with the default IP also.
Step4. On MAC cloning, I had tries with both the enable and disable option, then I had saves the page.
Step5: On the Anvance Routing page, I had selected gateway option and had tried for DHCP table entry.
In this table I can see only the router IP, ISP IP is not reflecting. But I can see all the necessary information only after night 10o"clock.

So, my router work's only at night time say after 10'clock. During the non-working hours, I have tried the router at my friedn's house where it is working properly.
I had communicated with Reliance and one person from them came to my place and tried for connectivity, even he was also not able to resolved the problem.

Hope I can make u aware of the problem. If u have any ambiguity, please revert back to me.

    Looking forwad for ur suggestions.

    Regards

Your Linksys modem is not running XP (or a Windows OS) so it won't get an IP even if you clone MAC address.

If you boot your PC with XP it will get an IP address.. that's all..

    All other solutions are temporary..

    1) I disconnected my Reliance Wimax service - I call myself liberated :-)
    2) There is one solution based on Linux. You can reimage your modem with a linux based image and it is discussed elsewhere (In the thread: A New Problem with Reliance Wimax...)
    3) Pl. do not attempt 2 above unless you are good at programming using C language (this is just a measure of your computer knowledge), comfortable with Linux..
    4) To debug this you better get conversant with TCP/IP protocols, Wireshack and DHCP RFCs..

Though I am a techie with over a decade of exp with networks, programming and all that ****.. I gave up trying this.. because it is not worth dealing with Reliance... :-(

    All the best!!

    Dear Cruise,
Thanks for replying and suggesting options.
I have very less knowledge anout linux and TCP/IP protols, so that option would be very difficult.
Disconnecting is a good option but I have couple of queries, please try to reply to it.
    a. The problem is with Linksys router or it will continue with every router ? If not, I which router you would suggest me to purchase.
    b. why the problem has occurred, I mean many others are using the same router with reliance wimax and it is working for them !!! (maine kya gunah kare the jo mere sath hi aisa hua !!!!
    Awaiting for your reply !!!!
Other tech guru comments are also welcome.

    Default Router stopped working

I was using the Wrt54G for about 2 months. didn't have a single problem.
2 nites ago it just stopped getting an IP from Reliance. I have called them a few times to no avail.
When I connect the antennae directly to the PC I get an IP but when I connect the LAN cable to the router it just refuses to assign an IP

Anyone have any luck with the router?

We all are in the same leaky boat called Reliance Wimax. I hv also given up this try. Wifi router has become such common thing that every alternate user has have it. i cant undertand the logic of this **** heads in reliance by not providing PPPoE. all isps are providing, y not reliance. i think all rel wimax users shud unite and ask for it. keep calling up their non exsistent CC & keep pestering them for PPPoe.

The problem with reliance wimax is that they dont give a static IP and due to this if the connection is not proper, if the signals are weak and the base station is not able to give the IP to the linksys router it will not work and we will be thinking that their is a problem router config
