Hi All, This is my first post in India Broadband. This is really "THE" place where i got solutions of many of my problems. I am using Reliance Broadnet for past 3 months. My plan is Rs 750/month(flat free) the bandwidth allocation is 150Kbps. When i am downloading anything, the dowlaoding speed reaches to around 25Kbps max. The average speed remains to be 17Kbps. I wanted to know if this is the right downloading speed that i am getting or is there any problem with my connection. Thanks

Yes this is the right download speed You can search the forum for the explanation where members has give explanation for this and how to calculate the speed you would get many times i will explain it again i am also on the same 150 Kbps connection and i also get 18 KBps speed Did you notice the difference in the above sentence in the "b" and the "B" "B" means bytes and "b" means bits 8 bits = 1 Byte so if it are on a 150 Kbps connection you will get max speed of 150/8 = ~18 KBps which is 18 bytes per second. if you are on a 300 kbps connection then you will get ~37 KBps so the speed you are getting is good enjoy

i think its not correct explanation. ur connection speed is actually 150 kilobytes per sec and not 150 kilobits. no ISP provides something in bits.. the reason is even though ur bandwidth allocation is 150 KBPS u get atmost 10 times less than that. try to use google download accelerator which may increase ur speed to 30KBPS

All ISP provide speeds in kilo bits per second and not in kilo bytes per sec, like 150 kbps where b is "small", it means bits, if the B is "Capital" it means bytes it is only in windows you will see KB/sec which is in bytes |

its a shame that on the reliance broadband website, you wont come across a single statement about what kbps really stands for. I imagine thousands of unsuspecting folk based their acceptance of the connection saying, "well unlimited 75 kbps is pretty darn good for 400 bux!" having the windows transfer rates in mind. I can't even imagine the look on their faces And yes ankurtan yur speed is good fr what was promised. Lets hope it stays dat way.
