    Default wifi Coverage help

hi i have my place configured with a WIFI router.....NETGEAR in my living room but it is not reachable inside the bedroom when doors are closed

i possibly thought of buying a wireless range extender but then it is very expensive 4200

my question is ....is there an option to connect one more wifi router with the existing one trough one of its lan ports

    Thanks
    Nitin.

You don’t need a range extender you just need an access point that is fairly cheaper.
There are some slightly more expensive models available that also offer POE (power over Ethernet) so you don’t even have to worry about plugging it into a separate power outlet.
You could also buy an antennae that you can place closer to your room that may help
    D-Link Has some nice products

The cheapest solution would be to reposition your wireless router so you have better coverage to the entire house... Try moving it higher up in elevation and closer to a Door or Window

    Hi Nitin,

Which Netgear router do you have ? I get an average to weak signal from my router with doors closed. I have an old WGR614v4.

Regarding connecting one router to another (cascading), I dont see why it should not be possible. Atleast theoretically it should be. If you can borrow a spare router, why dont you try ? I would be interested in knowing.

    cheers.

Hi Nitin, a wireless router should give you a good signal strength atleast in a 5000 sq ft environment. Try this, get in to your router setup page and under wireless there has to be something called as a "SSID" whatever it is replace it by typing any longer longer word eg... International0011289 or Kingfisher12233221 and then you would have your "MTU" displayed there .. set it to 1500. It should help..

    best

    Hi sunil
your suggestion is interesting i will try for sure in the comming days but could you just confirm with things above because i am a Busy guy till the end of this month i am doing my summer internship and they make me stay for long hours in the office LOL ( why i am telling you this because i dont have much spare time as when i do some kida with my funny router ..... it is excellent to loose all the setting in once and then it helps me loose all .... including the net connection ) huh and then .......... you know

    Regards
    Nitin
