Default How to configure Reliance Wi-Max (Bangalore) with Linksys WRT54G

    Hi guys,

I'm struggling to get my Linksys WRT54G with Reliance Wi-Max connection in Bangalore.

I have tried all what is mentioned in this thread as well on other threads including Mac Clone solutions. But no use.

Anybody can give step by step guide to set up Linksys WRT54G with Reliance Wi-Max connection, that would be great.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Cheers,
    Guru

This is the text that I found on reliance website. I was able to configure my friends WRT54g following this. Hope this helps you too....

Its pretty simple to share reliance wimax broadband using a Linksys WRT54G Wifi router. Just follow the below steps and its working fine at our end.

    1. Connect the ethernet (RJ-45) cable (white colour) coming out from Power over Ethernet (POE) to WAN port of the router. At back side of the router your can see 5 RJ-45 ports, out of this 1 for WAN and rest 4 for LAN.
    2. Connect your network card of desktop pc or laptop to any of the LAN port of the router.
    3. Switch off the power to POE
    4. Go to >>>Control panel >> Network >> Local Area Connection >>> Properties >>> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) >>> Properties >>> Select obtain IP address automatically.
    5. Go to Command prompt and type ipconfig/all you should get the details as below

    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

6.Open your browser (IE / Firefox) and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and press ENTER
    7. It will prompt for username and password type “admin” for both username and password. Now you are under settings page of your router.
    8. Under Setup >>> Basic Setup ,Change the Local IP Address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 (This is very important, because the Subscriber Station (receiver or SS) will have ip address as 192.168.1.1 )
9.Under Setup >>> MAC Address Clone >>> Enable >>> Click “Clone your PC’s MAC” . Then Save settings.
10.Switch on the power to POE and allow atleast 2 mins to complete hand shaking.
    11. Under Status >>> Router >>> you can see as below

Login Type: Automatic Configuration - DHCP
    IP Address: 123.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.xxx.0
    Default Gateway: 123.xxx.xxx.1
    DNS 1: 220.225.236.84
    DNS 2: 220.225.236.85
    DNS 3: 202.138.96.47
    MTU: 1500

Thats it now you have configured your Wifi router to share your Reliance Wimax Broadband.

If it doesn't help do let me know.

Expecting a thankx if this helps!!!!

    Cheers

The method suggested by resolve_broadband will work.

Configure the WRT54G in automatic DHCP mode. Also refer to WRT54G guide in "Broadband How To" section.

    Default Thanks for Valuable Information

    Hi Everyone,

I used the 'post by resolve_broadband' to set-up my Linksys WRT54G2 router for Reliance Broadband Wi-max connection and it worked well.

    Thanks to resolve_broadband post..

    To summarize: (in non-tech jargon)

Make sure that your Computer is configured with Dynamic IP.
You can check this by going to Control Panel> Network > Local Area Connection > Properties > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties > Select obtain IP address automatically.
    Now do the following:

    1. Connect the cable from WAN port of the WRT54G2 to the Laptop LAN-port.
    2. On a fresh page (Mozilla or IE or Chrome), type 192.168.1.100 in address-bar.
    3. Login as admin/admin and Under Setup >>> Basic Setup ,Change the Local IP Address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2.
    4. Under Setup >>> MAC Address Clone >>> Enable >>> Click “Clone your PC’s MAC” . Then Save settings.
    5. Connect the CABLE coming out of Reliance Modem to the Router Internet port.
    6. Wait for some 2-3 minutes.
    7. Open the page reliancebroadband.com Homepage.

It did not work for me yesterday while I was in hurry. I tried it today again and it worked in magic and I am all set to zoom..:scooter:

    All the Best...
