Default BroadNet Plans in Chennai..Should I??

I received a phamplet stating the prices:

    4mbps : R999 : with 4.5GB Usage

Is this for real?? Does reliance have 4mbps in chennai??

I am from overseas and I need a connection urgently.

I tried with airtel but they can't give a connection in the area I am in which is Chetpat sue to some issues.

Or should i give BSNL a try? If so can I get the contact in my area? I can't seem to find a single way to contact these people!!

I am truly having a hell of a time here

For BSNL, visit your local exchange and submit a form in writing. They have an application form for broadband.

As far as Reliance is concerned, do not pay anything upfront. They are known to promise a lot and under-deliver.

If you are in urgent need of Internet and need it just for e-mails and brosing, you can go in for a (wireless) datacard from Reliance or Tata Indicom.

Data cards are nothing but glorified dial up connection. So if u r looking for broad band than it wont serve ur purpose, but if u want just for mail & surfing & u need mobility than & than go for data card. Try for BSNL EVDO if available in chennai..u can chk at ur local exchange. they offer 2mbps speed. is costly compared to reliance or TATA datacards but u get better speed. Also chk for reliance wimax (wirefree) if available. As they cover areas where other isps have not able to reach.
