Thread: Reliance GSM in Trivandrum

Any ideas when Reliance will start distributing CEP SIMs in Trivandrum, Kerala? The service has been started all over Kerala except for Trivandrum. The WW is also unaware of the launch dates. Reliance CC has absolutely no ideas either.

Any insider info on the matter?

An unconfirmed insider info...CEP SIMs will be distributed at 100/- in Trivandrum (WW and local dealers)

BTW did anyone (in Trivandrum who is using the CEP SIMs) notice that the cell info is being displayed from today. I am getting a PalayamTrivandrum@2 displayed as cell info.

Here is my experience with the Reliance GSM service in Trivandrum.

Bought the SIM for 100/- some days back. The MRP of the SIM is 49/-. The rest of the amount is added to the balance. In some places the SIM is sold just for 49/-. In order to enjoy the benefits of the CEP, we need to recharge it with 50/-.

Voice clarity is not exceptional as listed in many other forums. Another common complaint with the service is that the CC is always inaccessible. But to my surprise, i face no such problems. Network is strong in the whole of Trivandrum city.

Messages are not being delivered to other GSM providers in kerala except Idea. The balance is reduced, but messages are lost. But there is no problem with incoming messages/calls from other service providers.

Had faced a minor hiccup and it was promptly solved by the CC. Whenever i send message requesting for WAP/GPRS/MMS settings, i got a reply message that my handset was not listed in the database. A quick call to the CC confirmed that my handset is indeed present in the database. A complaint was noted and yesterday i got the settings.

Free night time calls to reliance CMDA and GSM exists, which is of no use to me. Also the daily addition of 5/- is taking place regularly without any problems.

Reliance has started a discriminatory trend where subscribers of South are allowed only Rs.5 daily free call value whereas subscribers for rest of India are given Rs.10 daily call value.
Further, it seems that the number of towers for R-GSM service is still very less leading to low voice quality.

The talktime has/will be reduced to 5/- all over india within this week. Till this day i am getting excellent service from Reliance GSM, which i had enjoyed with Reliance CDMA too.

This is an unconfirmed insider news from Reliance.

The CEP offers will cease to exist by Jan 31st (in Kerala). This is applicable only for the new customers who take the connection after Jan 31st. The existing subscribers will be getting the offers for 6 months.

Get your Reliance GSM SIM now before its too late !!

Heard that they are giving away lifetime validity for just 56/- in Delhi circle. This is for Reliance GSM service.
