Default RComm launches new STD offer

Reliance Communications today launched an STD pack offering call facility of 50 minutes across all networks for the period of 30 days
on e-recharge of Rs 35 for GSM users of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarkhand.

"We have received tremendous customer response of our GSM services launched last month. After offering lifetime validity, double talk-time, night pack, SMS pack we are launching STD pack enabling customers to talk freely," Reliance Comm Regional Head (UP and Uttarakhand) Saleem Haq said here.

The offer is available till February 28, he added. Reliance Mobile GSM service allows its customers the use of widest range of over 210 handsets and devices as compared to any other operator in India, he claimed.

if its just total 50 min for Rs.35 then the per min. cost comes to Rs.1.27/min which not much less than the normal rate of Rs.1.50
are u sure its not 50 Min per day for 30 days?

sorry. even I don't know how I got into that figure. Must have been feeling very drowsy.

So heres the deal as I interpreted it.
    Rs.35 (incl. tax @ 12.36%) > Rs.31.15 net for 50 min.
    i.e. roughly 62.50p/min.
This is supposed to be "All network all calls" which means both local & STD for all network.
As cool techie already informed elsewhere, R-GSM has reduced local call charges to 50p and STD call charges to 75p
    So assuming 50% weightage,
    25 local calls = Rs.12.50
    25 STD calls = Rs. 18.75
    total 50 calls = Rs.31.25

So basically this Rs.35 for 50 calls is nothing but a repackaging of the same 50p/75p tariff with the assumption of 50-50 weightage. U gain 12.5p per STD call and lose 12.5p per local call. So if u make equal local & STD call no one gains/loses anything. If u make more local call Reliance is the gainer. IF u make more STD calls u are the gainer.
But on statistical probability the total gain/loss evens out for the Company and they are the overall gainer in the form of more ARPU as more people are expected to use this e-recharge.

    Thanks for the detailed analysis.

Better wait for MNP (Mobile Number Portability) to be activated in India. Then you can switch into the network of your desired choice while retaining the same number
